And none of them came from the Q.
Fine, Kris Letang.
Not sure why taking Svechnikov from the Q is a good idea but taking one of Chabot, Zboril or Roy isn't.
And none of them came from the Q.
I heard him say he is NOT trading first overall. I never heard him say he wouldnt trade the other picks.
6'0'' is relatively short for an NHL defenseman.
Tell that to Erik Kalrsson, Kevin Shattenkirk, Duncan Keith and Drew Doughty. All of them are 5'11"-6'1".
And how would you describe their skating?
Someone like Wisniewski could be available... I don't know how highly valued he is in Anaheim with that big $5.5 million cap hit hanging around his neck. Might get him for not much more than a draft pick.
Right hand shot and some decent offensive ability... and while the cap hit is high... it's only for 2 more years.
He wouldn't be my 1st choice for the Oilers... but wouldn't be my last either.
He seems like a perfect target to me. I'm surprised he's not talked about more. Obviously things didn't work out in Anaheim and I can see them trying to recoup some of their trade-deadline investment on him, or even just move him to free up cap space to retain Beauchemin.
Of course, I'd want to know *why* things didn't work out in Anaheim (he reportedly didn't want to leave Columbus and tried to use his limited no-trade to block contending teams), but he was still putting up good numbers in Columbus. 2 years left on that deal isn't really daunting though, and though he's viewed as a PP specialist, he was an all-situations guy in Columbus, so he'd fill a big need here.
Zboril? Roy? Chabot?
Hey guys. I'm going to be on the Pipeline Show on TSN 1260 in 70 minutes to discuss the draft. Hope you can tune in.
Didn't hear your show but it has to be better than Button's TSN mock draft show where we take Samsanov at 16. Puke
I might just throw something at the TV if we take Samsanov at 16.
I will be jacked if they get him at 16... Top forward and top goalie prospect in the draft?? That is sweet. Dont fool yourselves with all the fancy new players out there - after say Konecny at around 13, there are fewer and fewer sure things. Im not saying Samsonov is a sure thing, but he does address a SEVERE organizational need. Then BPA at 33 and or maybe move up in the 2nd with the 3rds as trade ammo.
Sign Beauchemin and or Franson, and Niemi. Dont give up assets YET for adequate goalie or Dmen. Sometimes it is better to rent. Belesky is also an interesting younger prospect who showed great on the playoff stage.
Samsanov is not a massive reach at #16, judging by most rankings.Any goalie at 16 is a MASSIVE reach. IF Samsanov is still at 33, go for it but don't waste a mid first on a goalie.

I know I read a scouting report where it referenced it, but in this video of Jeremy Roy you can see him on the left side for the majority of the game. I don't get to watch a lot of Q games so I can't argue from first hand experience.
It's in French and the guy who uploaded was nice enough to mark off where he is in yellow.
Really useful. Thanks a lot for posting the link.I hope you find the videos useful as you debate your favorite picks.
Hey there, thanks for linking to my video (and thanks for calling me nice)
I've actually made several videos of the prospects for this draft year. I'm trying to make one more before the draft, Jacob Larsson. My full video list can be found here if you want to browse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zhc-xIebM98&list=PL5zIiRZ730cdc-SMSe2Uk2MpefooATIPC
I believe I have videos on 43 or 44 prospects.
Regarding Roy, unfortunately, it's not a very good game of his. I try to get games where prospects have a good statistical output. Otherwise, I try to be as objective as possible. Consequently, I didn't want to make a different video on Roy after seeing a generally bad game, because then it would feel like I was trying to be more biased, by trying to "pick a better game for one player."
Also, as an aside, in a couple of my videos, I do lay into Oiler management, but the remarks were made before Chiarelli; I know it's been tough on the Oilers fans and I definitely wasn't making my remarks to criticize you. You guys deserved better, and you got better
Anyway, I know a lot of my commentary is pretty brutal. I'm pretty nervous when I talk and with this being the first season I provided commentary, I was trying to find a rhythm for what works. I'd like to think I get better as the season progresses, and my later videos does have some guest commentary which is much better than mine.
I hope you find the videos useful as you debate your favorite picks.
Your videos are very useful and I wanted to thank you for your work. I watched a lot of them yesterday when I spent most of the day fine-tuning my top100. It's helpful because it's easier to pick up the small things a player does when you have it all on tape and can go back and forth and not having to worry about when the kid goes on and off the ice because it's all his shifts. Also helped me a lot with kids that I either have not seen at all or some that I've seen very little of, so thank you for that. I do want to add though that I prefer the videos without commentary. That's not a slight on you though, I just find it easier to focus on the game and the player I'm watching if the only sound coming from the video is the game sound itself.
