I'm not getting my hopes up with the 16th and 33rd picks in the event that they get dealt. That said if there's no deal available I'd like to see us try to move up and land Werenski, Provorov or Crouse.

Ya Hintz is slated to go in the late second/3rd. There's going to be a lot of really good defensman availed at 33. I'm hoping for a guy like juulsen or Dunn.

Juulsen seems like an intriguing choice at 33, could be a real sleeper. Oil scouts should have got a really good look at him this year too while watching Betker. Could be a sleeper. If the Oil keep all their picks, getting McDavid-Svechnikov-Juulsen-Hintz would be a win IMO.

I like Jeremy Roy. Best right shot D. I heard a scout on the radio say if he had been healthy this whole year he would have been ranked higher than Werenski.

Coming from one of the biggest Roy fans around for multiple years, that scout couldn't be more wrong.

If anyone wants this years version of my annual mock draft creator spreadsheet send me a pm and include an email addy and I will send it to you. (I'm having trouble with google docs.)

As usual the sheet lists most of the draft eligible players, the entire draft order and some other goodies to let you easily follow the draft an create mock drafts if you wish.

Kyle Woodlief is one of those scouts.

Not saying I agree. I don't watch them enough to form such an opinion.

I will say that of all the d-men in that second tier. (Roy, Chabot, Zboril)
Roy is the only one I hear mention of joining the first tier. (Hanifin, Provorov, Werenski)
And Werenski is the only one I hear mention of dropping to the second tier.

Being the armchair scout I am.
I'm happy with Roy at 16. Happy enough I wouldn't trade up for Werenski.
Hanifin and Provorov are another story though.

I mean, ultimately it comes down to what you put emphasis on as a scout/person. Out of Roy, Chabot and Zboril, Roy definitely has the most advanced offensive instincts and looking at him you can sense his game-breaking abilities. He reminds me of Doughty in the offensive zone. The problem is that he seems physically and defensively weak while his skating is lacking acceleration and top-end speed. So basically it comes down to projecting how much he can improve at those things. If you think he can do it no problem then yeah, it makes sense to have him in that tier. If not, then he'll be lower on your list.

Right. And Werenski is more raw than Hanifin and Provorov, either of whom could theoretically compete for a spot this year's training camp.

I think I just heard Chia say that there's some goalies they are interested in "in the second round".

Music to my ears.
