Don't know why its so hard to find, but what time does the draft actually start on Friday?

Curious as to why you all want the Oilers to take Svechnikov.. Because repeatedly drafting forwards has worked out so well.
5 pm confirmed mountain time.
Round 2 starts Saturday morning either 8 am or 10 am mountain time, can't remember.

Rumor in Toronto is that Leafs are looking to parlay the 24OA into 2 nd rounders. If that's true, a logical swap would be 33rd and 57th for the 24th.
You then package the 16th and 24th to jump into the 8-10 area and hope that Hannafin falls to you. If not, you have the chance to pick one of Werenski, Connor or someone you really like (Crouse). At this point, I'd rather have quality rather than quantity. Having a second pick in the top 10 would be tremendous.
Thoughts?

Sorry for the double post, but for some reason, with all of the top offensive talent out there, there is a good chance that 2 of the top 3 D (Hannafin, Provorov or Werenski) will be available in the 8-10 range.
Imagine coming away with McD and one of the 3 mentioned, and with how deep the draft is, we can gamble on a high risk, high reward pick, or one of Vladar or Blackwood in the 3rd Rd.
Nice idea I suppose but imagine trading draft picks for actual NHL players!! Shocking concept I know

Are you kidding me...I'm proposing a scenario where we might be able to grab a potential franchise D, a la Jones or Ekblad, and you don't want to look at it. Any one of those 3 D that I mentioned could step in and be better than anything we pick up with in a trade with the 16th. And have this happen as early as next year.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 16th, or even your top F on the team will not land you Ek or Jones.
I think we have an opportunity, for the first time ever, to pick a top D, and you scoff at it.
Just curious, you've seen what I'm proposing, please enlighten me with a proposal of what you think we might be able to obtain in a trade with the 16th?
They MIGHT be franchise D and no I'd love to look at it but I prefer NHL dmen that can help us improve now. 16th by itself doesn't get us **** all but 16th + could get us a Burns of Byfuglien of the rumors are true. No dman drafted this year will be step into the NHL and be better that these 2. Fact.
Also with a late top 10 pick we are looking at Provorov and Werenski. Both (especially Werenski) need work and would benefit from not stepping into the NHL next season. Fact.
You might want to calm down and relax instead of getting upset and putting words in my mouth.
Would I love to trade up? Sure would. Would I rather package 16th + two pieces for someone like Burns? Yes easily as would most posters on here.
I'm plenty relaxed!!!
I don't think you are aware what Burns will cost. I'm quite certain it'll be someone like Yak + Next year's 1st. Are you really ready to give that up? Plus, do you really think that we are ready to make a long push in the playoff's next year. The three I mentioned will be ready just in time. Just my opinion, but I think Werenski may very well turn out to be the best of the bunch.
I'm quite certain that any one of the 3 will be better than Burns in a couple of years time. Plus we will have them as one of our cornerstone for the next 10 yrs.
My point is, the 16th & 33rd is not going to land you Burns. Get the franchise D when you have the chance.
Fair enough and I understand your point and I agree that Burns will be a hefty price tag. I was never against trading up, we just need NHL proven talent. If we are trading up 16th + Marincin probably moves up in to the 8-10 range. Depending on how teams value Marincin. I guess if you want to trade up more the 33+57 would get you around 24-26.
That's the great thing about the position we are in this year. We could move up, trade for Current NHL dmen or stand pat. We have 5 (no including McDavid) draft picks in the top 90. We can make a lot of different things happen.
For the record, I'm not disagreeing with you.
For once, I'd like us to get that potential franchise D. I've got to tell you, I'm envious when I see FL and Nashville pick up the franchise D. They are not trading those 2 for anyone on our team not named McDavid on a 1 on 1 trade. That's why I covet that 8-11 spot so badly. I think Werenski has the chance to every bit as good as Jones, and it will not take him time to make our lineup as at least a second pairing D.
Werenski's defensive game needs work. Out of the 3 he is the one that would benefit the most from year out of the NHL
