Thank you :)

Wow it wasn't even an accident

He looked at him straight on, and just said "nope"

I think it was more a case of:

Bettman: Uh, sure, okay, I guess I'll shake you hand.

White: Oh, ****, you aren't from the Sens. Never mind.

Also I agree with everyone laughing at how Colin White comes off as a bit of a dunce.

I mean, beating a 64 point rookie campaign... I don't expect Marner to be better than Johnny at all. Somewhat comparable I'd say, but I don't project a significantly better player by any stretch.

I said this months ago. I feel bad for Marner; he will go from A-level prospect to the most overrated and hated prospect in the NHL:laugh:

Considering Marner will probably play his rookie campaign at 19, idk if he'll put up 64 points. At 21 however, it isn't unthinkable that he does.

I planned on watching the whole draft, but once I found out we got Hamilton, plans changed, got my Sundays best on and hit the town with some friends, I had no interest in seeing who went where at that point. Shoulda coulda wouldas don't win hockey games, 22yr old top pairing dmen do ;)

Good day for me as a Flames fan

I wonder who the flames would have picked @ 15 if they did not trade.

Good question. And the more I think of it, the more I love the Hamilton-trade. Flames' position in this year's draft wasn't the best possible. All the big wingers and great defenders were gone, when Bruins made their 15th pick. Yeah, there were still Connor & Barzal, but Flames already have a nice 1-2 punch in the center-position with Monahan-Bennett. Same reason, why Bruins didn't have interest in neither of the duo Barzal-Connor. I bet the Flames wouldn't have taken neither of them. Maybe Juulsen or Boeser.

So I'm happy with Hamilton. :)

Which player should we pick at #53? Hard to predict who'll still be available... But if we drafted a defender, I hope it's going to be someone of Dunn-Meloche-Roy. For the forward position, one of Fischer, Gagne, Korostelev.

It's weird as well, I was just reading last night how the 15th overall pick is some sort of cursed blackhole, something like 38% of those picks play over 100 games, whereas it's 60+% for 14th and 16th. Obviously it's circumstantial, it just bummed me out when I seen it

I think we should trade up and try to take Mitch Vande Sompel depending on when he's available, expecting Sprong/Roy to go in the next 5 picks.

Outside of the top 2, I think last years draft was pretty on par to this years for the first 30-40 picks. I think we absolutely looked at moving up to get one of the big 3 dman. I think the price was a core piece which we had no appetite for. I think that's when it became apparent trading for Dougie made sense as he is a top tier player.

IMO should try trade up (within reason), draft Vande Sompel and take the risk he brings. If he busts we aren't too much worse for wear, if he develops we have another solid offensive d-man, PP specialist and our defense becomes insanity.

Wonder if the Flames will get some extra picks by taking on Cam Ward's contract and trading Hiller somewhere. I'd be OK with that.
