Rutherford is in the stands talking to Allan Walsh, agent of Dupuis, Fleury and Perron.

QUICK WHO ELSE DOES HE REPRESENT

Telling him Dupuis is going to Toronto. If there's a team that won't care whether he plays or they have to bury him on IR, it's Toronto.

JR got lost on his way back to the table, ended up in the stands. So he just went with it... sat down... started talking business.

at this point, there is no reason anything we do will happen today, or any specific day before the 1st. If you are going crazy waiting for a move, I suggest you move along. It could be a long wait I think.

we shouldn't walk away. We should just be patient.

How patient should we be? Serious question not being a smart ace. Kessel is going to take additional moves afterwards. I'm thinking time is running out. We get into July 1 with current lineup, could end up disastrous for us imo. A deal imo has to go down pretty soon cuz imo. Thoughts?

This can't be emphasized enough.

The clock doesn't strike midnight on this until Tuesday night...at...midnight. Even then the door doesn't slam shut. It's not like Toronto was going to get a high draft pick from us for this draft anyway.

Tell me how they don't have to move Kessel.

There are precedents. Luongo in Vancouver comes to mind.

Of course, anybody who followed that knows the Canucks made a huge mistake, but when teams don't like the offers they see and dig their heels in...

Looks like we're playing a game of chicken with Toronto. I can't see us caving first with the other wingers still available. Kessel can change his NTC July 1st, but he can also just waive it now if another team was interested. I legitimately think we're the only team that will be actively trying to trade for him, at least for a while. Maybe Florida as a dark horse, but they no longer have the 11th pick so there goes one of their big trade chips.

the only thing that changes our leverage will be other guys like Skinner, Oshie and Sharp being moved. Until that happens, we have the upper hand. It comes down to JR not being stupid. Which obviously isn't a sure thing, but I think if he hasn't traded Maatta yet, the only way he will cave is if the other options are gone. I don't think he caves just because he is bored of waiting a few days.

Interesting angle. If Kessel wants to make Toronto's life miserable, maybe he takes the Pens off his list come July 1. Just a thought . . .
