The Leafs don't have to move Kessel IMO so we have very little leverage, if any at all.

I highly doubt we trade Maatta, he's a future stud defenseman who can already play on the top pair. Losing Pouliot would hurt but I would think he's more likely.

We should just move on to another target and hopefully trade either of those two.

Tell me how they don't have to move Kessel.

Yeah... the Leafs don't have to move Kessel just like the Vancouver didn't have to move Luongo, and to a lesser extent, Kesler.... and Winnipeg didn't really have to move Kane either...

He also said this could go all the way up to free agency or further. Him holding out is doing exactly what we want. Bringing down the price, but in no way is Toronto still forced to trade him, "meaning" how much lower do we think they would go giving up, Kessel?

I'm hoping the deal is down to three pieces with Scuds/dump as the 3rd piece.

Sutter, DP and Scuds/dump.

Methinks if it were that easy, it would be done already.

Simon played at the WC's this year against men.
Seems like a pick where they wanted to get a guy who's closer to NHL ready.

Have to see if theres any vid out there.
That´s with limited icetime, too. Czech squad was stacked, relying on Jagr, Voracek etc in the important minutes, but he provided some great energy and secondary scoring there. He´s a year younger than Hertl for example and Hertl was actually benched multiple times because of Simon´s clutch play in that tournament.

I was actually mentioning him in the WCs thread that the Pens should keep an eye on him. Was thinking European agency, wasn´t aware of him attending the draft. It´s nice anyway.

The situation clearly is not going to change, either trade for Kessel or go the less costly route with Oshie. Just get it done already

I still don't like that trade with the types of players that were on the board in the second round. Likelihood of finding a Palmieri or better is much higher than usual.

I would have absolutely traded our 2nd and '16 3rd for Palms. Sure Sprong might end up being better... but that's going to be at least 3-4 years down the road. Palmieri is an NHL player now. He's easily a 2nd/3rd line tweener who's still young and could easily be a top 6 guy.

If they bring him back and he struggles like he did at the end of last year his contract becomes unmovable.

Toronto wouldn't risk that, and they also don't want to deal with the circus that goes on in Toronto with him.

I've been listening to TSN1050 for the last hour, and there's been not one mention of Kessel's name.

Well, if there aren't 1000 leaks a minute anymore there, then maybe something is happening.
