13 goals and 13 assists. I just don't get the complaints. He's a great utility player like Lewis. The reason he plays top minutes is because he's rewarded with them.

All Even Strength goals as well.

Brown/Richards(combined) barely managed to beat Dwight King in that department. But it cost the Kings 11.8 million dollars to do so.

Dwight King is exactly what you want out of your later round picks. A cheap, younger, productive roster player. For all the flak Dwight King gets, he is productive at a fraction of the cost of top six players.

He sure is. his cap hit going forward is low for what he brings to the table.

People complain because he gets up on the top two lines at times and in their mind the production doesn't validate the position. They are probably correct, he's not a top tywo winger, however the only thing he's guilty of is being the best asset available at the time to fill that spot. Really, they are giving him crap for playing above his position, which is just dumb. The flak should be on Brown for not playing up to his position and contract.

Brown averaged 16:31 a game last year, including 1:30 on the PP and 1:19 SH. King averaged 14:23 a game, with 27 seconds a game on the powerplay and 52 a game shorthanded. King had more goals and just one fewer point. Brown had one powerplay goal all season despite playing 123 minutes on the powerplay.

How King gets flak for that and Brown seems to fly under the radar alot on this forum I don't get.

So beautifully simple and true. Well said.

I agree with everything except the idea that Brown's bad play flew under the radar. He's getting plenty of (obviously justified) criticism all over, he's just surpassed (obviously justified) by Richards.

Getting another guy who bottoms out at Dwight King in the draft wouldn't be the worst thing. I love the idea of Greenaway but that's a 2nd round sort of guy imo (for us, I mean).

Forbort and Taresenko where the highest rated players left on the board.

The Kings chose Forbort due to him being BPA, and skill. Not out of need.

This has been explained before, no idea why people keep acting like the Kings reached with Forbort. The guy is skilled, and is Manchester's best Defender. Forbort just turned 23.

Now the Teubert pick was baffling to me, the guy was never really skilled I thought, even watching him in JR's.
Regardless, one out of three is abysmal when it comes to top 15 picks. Especially with hickey being #4OA, shallow draft or not.

Abysmal in what regard? Teubert was a bust but Hickey isn't. Disappointing sure, but not abysmal. The Kings took a swing for a homerun and ended up with a single. Sucks but I'd rather they take a swing then just stick to BPA.

I'm tired of everyone *****ing about hickey. The Kings management was really high on him and tried to move back in the draft to get him later. But when nothing could get done they choose him 4th OA. That was the guy they wanted and weren't going to miss out on him.

He would most likely be playing in our top 4 right now if it wasn't for some injuries and Martinez/Muzzin stepping their games up before hickey was ready.

I don't know man, a Blake Wheeler (if he hits his full potential)type of player is something the Kings could use. And if he busts and is Dwight King part deux, still a useful player.

Have seen him play for years. He hasn't developed much and has character issues. He would be a big risk for anyone to take in the first round.

I also don't think he has the talent and skating ability of a player like Wheeler. Wheeler was a top 5 selection. Greenway, if he does get selected in the 1st round, likely won't be selected until the latter stages.

Central Scouting had him as the 22nd best North American prospect in their mid-term rankings. He dropped down to 47th in their final rankings.

I don't know anything about his character issues, but his numbers this season have been pretty average. I'd take a chance in the 2nd round on him, but no way do I burn the 13th pick on him. Go with the most skilled, talented skater in the draft at 13, not another risk who could turn into the next Matt Zultek.

That is sort of the point.

A #4 pick shouldn't be overshadowed by a 4th rounder, and if he is, he is a severe disappointment based off of draft position.

Trading a #4 overall nets you a first paring/first line quality player. If you don't get that value (down the road) out of the player selected, that is poor asset management.

This all being said, Kings brass has been absolutely nails in later rounds, and it has offset the shaky first round draft record.

If a "single" is a #4 overall pick turning into a waiver claim for some other team, what qualifies as a strikeout?

You waive 4th rounders, not 4th overall picks.

Ancient history, either way.

I think what we got for him (our first Cup) wound up being a grand slam home run...

The selection and the waiving are two seperate things. Hickey as a player is certainly not a strike out. The fact DL didn't trade him at some point over the five years we had him in the system is a different issue.

I was referring to hickey as the single, not Teubert.

I would like LA to take a flyer in the later rounds on SEBASTIAN AHO the smallish defender out of Sweden. He was awesome at the WJCs imho.

Any chance the Kings use a second round pick to snag Austin Wagner(Regina). The guy is quite possibly the fastest guy in the draft and fits into the mold of what the Kings nucleus currently consists of.

Sure. Why not?

I sorta guess this is directed at my dislike of King So i will answer this as i am the self appointed president of the Dwight King dislike club. First off i guess i would like to say i don't mind him if he stays on the 3rd line. My dislike comes when he moves up. His production is good for a 3rd player However when he moves top 6 it isn't. I also think hes not as productive defensively when he gets to many mins. He tends to cheat closer to the blueline in the defensive zone in order to try and keep up with the much faster Carter and /or toffoli It seem to me hes to slow and not very creative and its better suited for the bottom lines. I hope this year Pearson will be healthy and trusted with more mins. I also like the fact im starting to read more and more that Mersch maybe coming to take Kings spot I must admit i like that idea.
Now to the bold part i think bs Hes only playing them cause we have no one else to do it and Sutter loves this kid. I have seen clifford be benched (or ice time reduced) for making a mistake and when king does the same thing he gets more ice time.

I wonder if LA can get a guy like will move up a couple spots with the 2cd rounder they have if Zacha is still on the board.
