If this happens then this signals full steam ahead beginning at the draft. You don't drop that dough on that coach to go through the motions of building this team back up. I would expect a couple trades at the draft and a couple big signings come July 1st.

They have stuck to their game plan

Step 1) rebuild through top of the draft players- Eichel, Reinhart, Risto

Step 2) add young players through trade to grow with core- Kane, Bogo

Step 3) Secure one of elite coaches in game

Step 4) Add pieces to become competitive

This move would guarantee nothing but is such a giant move for this organization to rebrand itself as a competitive, exciting team to come to.

I have never had, nor will I ever have, a friend that I would turn down $50,000,000 to live near.

Never try your best at anything, because if you do and fail it is embarrassing.

That may be the dumbest analogy reply I have ever read.

If takes the deal, great. If he doesn't expect to overpay for whoever the next best choice is.

It would also be a field day for the media and their worst places to play articles.

Will fix everything
I think this is the "Terry views the Sabres and the Bills as his children and feels bad he dropped 1.4B on the Bills, so he's trying to make it up to the Sabres by getting them a shinny new babcock"

Probably done hearing anything but speculation until the morning. He's had this on his timetable the whole time...and he will be tucked away until then. Have to believe its only us and Detroit left. Second interviews, second offers and all that...didnt hear of anything like that with another team. Just comes down to whether he leaves or not.

The thing is, moving is part of the career choice. Anybody who is or wants to be an NHL coach knows that you can't spend your career in one place, and you are going to have to move eventually. Anybody marrying a person in that situation has to know that one day you will be uprooted and moved. It comes with the territory. I honestly think the whole wife not wanting to leave detroit is way overblown. When it comes down to it, she had to know this was coming, and if not, she simply isn't a very intelligent woman.

Yeah Craig Button seems to think Buffalo may submit a 3rd offer tonight for Babcock to sleep on and we will know sometime tomorrow.

The man wants to sleep on it. Gotta respect it, it's a huge decision.

I won't get excited until we have an announcement, I fully expect he'll stay.

I wonder how much this hypothetical third offer would be worth :amazed:
Probably isn't much more money. Maybe there were some smaller things Babcock wanted. Then again what does Craig Button know? Very little. He just said if you really want something and you have the resources to do it then you should seal the deal and that Tim Murray will get very little sleep if this isn't resolved tonight.

Uproot his family is a little dramatic.... Aren't all his kids graduated from High School? It's not like he's pulling them out of elementary school.
