at this rate i'd rather we not touch a ****ing thing on this roster, they look really good and hungry this season and i'm worried about potentially shaking up the locker room at all

I would move Gaborik this year if there is a taker just to get the hit off the books.
It would definitely give DL the flexibility to retain Lucic

Gaborik is 5th on the team in Goals. Not sure I'd look to move his contract.

Greene could be moved out, but it's nice having a 3rd pairing D that can PK in case one of the top 4 gets a penalty. Team is built on defense first if Greene were moved I believe a similar replacement would be brought in.

Schenn?

But Greene is out for the year regardless so his salary isn't an issue this year.

Yeah winning is cool but do you know how many threads we could generate by adding Byfuglien to Lucic, Brown, McNabb, Doughty, and Quick? And assassin Jeff Carter?

(really though I'd still like to get McNabb off the top pairing)

yesterday kopi made a short interview for slovenian media (source: http://www.rtvslo.si/sport/citat-za-prebrat/anze-kopitar/383028). about the contract: first he was disapointed, "lak advertised to sign the contract around the start of 15/16 season." after that: "now we're still fighting for it." a big interview is coming tomorrow, i'll keep you posted.

today nothing came in, yesterday evening it was promised, a big interview with kopi, but nothing came in, media is silent, silenzio stampa. just a guess, lak & kopi signing the papers right now, mhm, mhm? 9.30 pm here.

Cool quote
:

Scoring for the Kings was center Anze Kopitar, his 11th goal. After a slow start, Kopitar has 11 points in the eight games since the Christmas break. Kopitar has been held off the score sheet in only three games since going pointless at Columbus on Dec. 8.

"He's taken on more of the 'my team mentality.' I think you can see that," Sutter said. "He's demonstrated emotion way more on a game-to-game basis than ever. He has got that attitude: If you want to beat us, 'Come through me.' "

Fans saw
a little of that attitude after this goal:

gaborik is having a great month or so here, but I would still move him out in the off season for cap space that is needed.
basically would rather have lucic than Gaborik.

You can see it not just in his points but in his play. Going through 2 and 3 guys on the boards routinely.

he developed a new trademark there, along the boards, offensive zone, 2 and 3 guys on me, possession & make room, secondary assist to the blue line, and open highway for doughty or someone else. pp playbook, and it works 5v5 as well. along the boards.

id be willing to bet that our average Dives Against per Game goes way up

it's a miracle that the whole team hasn't been locked up for assault and battery already if you listen to the main board

That's guess #1. UFA, is he a fit, how much does he want, are there other targets DL is drooling over? Oh yeah is Greene coming back?

I see... this is where I got off the tracks.... brain left in playoff mode...

Oh my bad, thought you meant during this year, didn't realize you were talking beyond.

Not sure tbh, they were talking like they want to think about extending Schenn which makes it sound like Greene is toast.

Gaborik isnt goin anywhere , he will be our Selanne according to Dean and i honestly dont see him slowing down hes not used to being healthy n having better doctors lol once he gets accustomed to it and trains more this off season i think he will keep scoring for us. Plus we dont really have anyone to replace him at the moment

Brown is who needs to go and is taking up to much cap space that can be used on someone to replace him plussss another #4 defenseman or forward

Or a trade!!!! :naughty:

Very unlikely. Still growing and learning his role. Play is very uneven. Not in a bad way, just part of molding a raw ball of clay into a champ ;)

kopi's interview for slovenian media came out today, here is a quick translation. source: http://ekipa24.si/clanek/hokej-na-l...4c7dc6aafd/kopitar-z-lucicem-tudi-srbohrvasko

about a poor start this season:
"I think the most difficult thing - for a player or a team - is to win the first game. Our first three games didn't go well, but after the first victory it became much easier, it was a relief and we've started to play as we imagined before the season started."

about his slow start and catching the rhythm:
"My form is better in last month or in a second quarter of the season. Also my production went up. I missed this in the beginning but now it feels like everything is running smoothly. Sure, it can be even better, there's plenty of room for improvement in my game, but I'm on a right track."

about good chemistry with tyler:
"I agree, I think it's very good. Since we've started playing together we've made a lot of good plays, and even more important we've scored quite some goals as well. Currently we're still linemates and I hope we'll continue with such performances."

about the contract and how much pressure does he feel:
"In the beginning it was a burden, maybe even a too heavy one. Later I somehow managed to unplug it, I simply don't want to be annoyed with it. It's not a secret that it's been dragging on, I also expected that it will turn out differently. But in the end it's just business and sometimes things like this are delayed."

about his physical shape and smaller injuries:
"Bumps are present, now as well as always, nothing serious though. I've always preferred playing big minutes with big time on ice, that's when I feel best. Puck that hit me? /laughs & swings with the hand/ It's not worth mentioning, just three stitches under the nose."

about not playing the all-star game:
"I can't say that I'm deeply disappointed. Sure it would be a great honour to play there but it's a long season and every break is welcome. I'll use that weekend for a good rest."

about dallas, florida and washington, is he surprised:
"Florida is a bit of surprise with 12 consecutive wins. But I told it many times already, there are no bad teams in NHL. Dallas and Washington are very good teams so no surprise there."

about 3v3 in overtimes:
"It's a good thing for LAK, if you compare it to our overtime record last season. 3v3 gives player a lot of space, the mentality changes, players must be more careful as mistakes often lead to 2v1 situations or even allowing a player 1v1 with a goalie. It takes some time to adapt to it, but we're doing pretty fine this season so it's a good thing."

about lucic, does he speaks serbian:
"In fact he does, we had some conversations in that language as well."

Just a brief note on oil. Projections on business networks today are that 33% of U.S. oil companies will go bankrupt by 2017. How will Canadian oil companies fair? Economic realities are what is holding up Kopitar's contract.

that number sounds worse than it likely is. Here alot of the companies that go belly up are the small independent companies. lots of time they are the service companies with a lot of inventory and overhead. I work for one and I we have enough funding to get us through the next 20-24 months if things do not improve. Some companies are not so fortunate.
Basically I think that 33% of companies likely represents a much smaller percent of the oilfield workforce.
