Finland it is.

Hope he makes it and impresses everyone.
His skillset would be a good thing to have on larger ice for sure, like the poster earlier mentioned.Iam pretty excited for this guy ,his skill package is a need for us in Ottawa.Moreso because he is a lefty ,i hope he can develop into that real left shot option for us

High potential but lots of questions marks surrounding his game and I don't know what you mean by "I've been saying it for a year" but it makes no sense at all since Chabot was dreadful defensively 2 years ago in St-Johns and at the beginning of this year he was scratched again because of the same reason. Only halfway through the season , and especially when Zboril got injured he got more attention. He was a big riser but a year ago I wouldn't have seen him in the 1rst round and nobody had him in the first round either.

I worked for St. John last season, I saw him extensively from August on. He was a 1st rounder from November on, I've been talking him up since the QMJHL season started, and said in a thread in January he would likely be a Sen

Heh, quite interesting. This is your post from February. Well done.

I don't know much about guys outside of the Q, (which I have pretty good knowledge on) aside from the big name guys, but there are a lot of guys from the Q this year I would be happy with outside the first.

Noel
Askew
Beauvillier
Meloche
Yan
Brisbois

Are all guys I would target with our Dallas pick

I am pretty disappointed, at the start of the year I was saying we should take Chabot with our second, which would have been a reach at the time. He will go top 20 now, he is the biggest riser this year. I would trade A LOT to move up to grab him.

This is in no way meant to draw a direct parallel between Karlsson and Chabot, although some of you will probably still take it that way.

But, I remember some of our own fans, who watched Karlsson every game, still couldn't see anything special out of Karlsson into the early goings of his first Norris year. Whereas some people saw "special' in the first half of his rookie year.

There's absolutely no arguing that some people see the game a little bit more clearly than others. This coming from a guy that hasn't watched any of Chabot, just know there were reasonable professional scouts that believed he was the best value pick where he was taken and arguably could have been taken in the top 10.

People call Dorion a cheerleader, but I'm pretty sure the last time he used the word "special" was in regards to a player that became special.

This. And that's why some of us were very confident in Kalsson and Zibanejad, despite others saying "should have drafted Couturier" or things like that. "Eye for talent" is not an automatic thing, and for the record I don't think I'd be a very good scout.

I thought BM made a mistake by drafting Chabot instead of Svetchnikov...but after seeing Chabot at the London rookie tournament...he's a definite stud. Excited to see him in a few games with Seadogs this fall.

Just watched this guy in scrimmage 3on3 and he was remarkable for 18 year old. The guy was so fluent and dictated the play almost entire shift he was on ice for Red team.

This guy has star potential.

Hey hoping someone can help me...I checked out their Twitter but didn't see any video of the scrimmage...can someone verify it is still there and I am just missing it or verify it isn't there?

If it IS there any chance you can supply the link?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Rewatched a lot of Chabot. He just makes me think boom or bust prospect. May be a stupid prediciton, but in a lot of ways I can see him being a top 2 guy with an OEL skillset. But I can also see an offensive guy who can't make the transition (ala Brian Lee).

However, I think if he develops physically this year we could see a very good hockey player pushing for a spot next year. Excited for this kid

I think realistically we don't see him having staying power with the big club for at least a few more seasons (a reasonable prediction is that he will be on the 2017-2018 opening roster.) But who knows, maybe he pulls a Ceci.

Is Chabot at the age of one of these "NHL or Junior guys". ie... He can't go to the AHL?

If so that will definitely add a year or 2 before he could take a regular NHL spot.

Yes that's right. The whole "AHL stealing CHL talent" rule is in effect.

it depends a lot on how Weir and Cowen do, and Boro as well. If they all play better then the last few seasons Chabot will probably have to be patient in the minors for a few seasons. but like Ceci if they stumble he could grab the bull by the horns and make the jump next season

or BM could get a veteran dman and let Chabot develop properly
