That's awesome that he'll be in tonight! He must've been in pretty good shape to be able to step right in. I know that he said that he was skating but that he wasn't in game shape since basically nothing but playing/practicing gets you in that kind of shape. I'm really pulling for him, he's pretty much exactly what the Dr. ordered for our team. I just hope that for his sake and ours he cleans up his off ice activities.

I know we are all looking for some kind of sign that the oilers are going to get better but Kassion is not it.

We have the same holes we have every year and he potentially could only help us slightly. Defence of course being the big one.

I hope he works out as well. I Like the kind of player he can be. Just seems like there is too much interest in this situation.

I liked him since his draft year so it's a possible blessing in my eyes that we landed him almost for nothing. He is the kind of player that we have lacked for eons. He doesn't help the defense that is true, but he will help in a number of other areas if he gets his game and life in order. I for one am very excited that we landed him and I really hope that he cleans up because he could be an absolute gem of a deal for Chia.

Time will tell how it works out. 28 other teams basically knew that MTL was willing to basically give him away but more than likely most weren't willing to take a chance on his reputation and issues. Hopefully he has grown up and matured a lot.

I think we're obviously grasping for any meaningful change. Kassian should be an improvement if he can become a pro. We desperately need a serviceable Gazdic. Although I've liked Gaz this year he is probably still over his head when it comes to making plays with or without the puck. In any case improvement in the "player personnel" is essential.

Hamonic/dropping Schultz/Klefbom's injury (etc.) would obviously be more important discussions.

I've never liked Kassian too much.....maybe I did when he was a prospect in Buffalo but he never turned into a serviceable top 6 powerforward. He could still be developing.....I'm sure that is the upside. But as a player he never seemed to have the IQ to really impact the game....although I have not watched him enough to really care about this opinion one way or the other.

I'm fairly content to hope he becomes a serviceable 3rd liner with a mean streak. If its true that he is a presence in the locker room.....well that is a huge bonus for me.....I think our guys are too quiet....maybe Zack can bring a positive influence on that front.

Best part of the Kassian trade? Eetu's back. Has there been a sighting yet? I don't see Rimmer on the roster anymore.

Rimmer got sent back to the ECHL on Dec. 31. This is the first Condors game since the trade.

Even a physical 3rd liner that chips in 20-25 points would be massive. That said IMO he has the hands to play with skilled guys so it at least gives us an option to play him in the top 6. Of course this is all contingent on what he does with his life.

If he proves them wrong they will all look like idiots.

I am also stoked on Laurikainen, he looked good in the exhibition games in September. :handclap:

Very stoked on him.

Kassian the goon. Sitting in the penalty box already. Serving a penalty for Condors' illegal starting lineup

Edit: Only listening to the game, but he nearly scored and threw a big hit on his first shift. Good start

I saw that penalty and was very confused so I came here.. What is it? Lineup given to the refs wrong or something?

I was only listening and the commenator seemed as confused as I was about it, he didn't have any information about it. Rulebook shows this though
Starting Line-up - Prior to the start of the game, at the request of the
Referee, the Manager or Coach of the visiting team is required to
name the starting line-up to the Referee or Official Scorer.
Prior to the start of the game, the Manager or Coach of the home
team, having been advised by the Official Scorer the names of the
starting line-up of the visiting team, shall name the starting line-up of
the home team. This information shall be conveyed by the Official
Scorer to the Coach of the visiting team.
No change in the starting line-up of either team as given to the
Official Scorer, or in the playing line-up on the ice, unless reviewed
and approved by the Referee prior to the start of the game.
For an infraction of this rule, a bench minor penalty shall be
imposed upon the offending team, provided such infraction is called to
the attention of the Referee before the second face-off in the first
period takes place.
This is an appeal play and must be brought to the
Referee’s attention prior to the second face-off in the game. There is
no penalty to the requesting team if their appeal is unsustained. The
determining factor when considering whether or not a player is listed in
the starting line-up is that the player’s name, and not necessarily the
player’s number, must be correctly listed by the Manager or Coach of
that team.
