That stupid Kitsyn!!! Went and got himself assigned to the ECHL. How many summers has he had to work on his game? To come into training camp and really impress? And has he delivered? No.....

Kitsyn is not even an AHL caliber player. Never will be.

or wait, i am thinking of ECHL...

Maybe they don't have confidence in Houser. Suprising signing. That's a lot of NHL experience in goal for Ontario.

It's also sounds Cernak is headed back to Ontario.

Sounds like Cernak refused the assignment to Erie. Sucks for Erie, disappointing to see a player do that.

Whaaaat. Link?

I'm sure there's more to it than that (not calling YOU out, just meaning maybe the org asked him to report to the AHL or something, dunno).

Reign up 2-0 on the Condors a few minutes into the 2nd. Goals from LoVerde (Newbury, Kempe) and Sabourin (McBain). Shots are 19-10 Reign.

Reign getting a buttload of penalties, including a 4-min highstick to Kempe--so considering how much time shorthanded, that's an impressive showing thus far.

LA officially assigned him to Erie nearly two weeks ago but he never reported.

Reign up 5-0, about two minutes left in the 2nd. Second period goals are:

Newbury (Mersch)
Newbury (Backman, LoVerde) (PP)
Bissonnette

What? I can't imagine the Kings would put up with that nonsense. I wonder if there's more to the story or if we have a player with attitude on our hands. Definitely disappointing for Erie. I feel for you all.

I mean, rewarding Cernak for not reporting when Lintu's going to Manchester? Hmmm, AHL Ontario Reign is still a baby and already we've had a flurry of surprising action going on.

Feels good after last night. Newbury looks like a good addition. Sabs and Biz, fourth-liners getting the goals. Good to see.

Reign win it 5-0!! I only caught the 3rd period. But they looked pretty domainte. Cheers to Peter Budaj who went winless last year in 19 games! Comes to Ontario and gets a shutout in game 1. I try to see the lines and parings. I think this is what they were. Less confident about the d parings.

Kempe - Newbury - Backman
Mersch - Dowd - Zykov
Bissonnette - Crescenzi - Brodzinski
Sabourin - Horvat - Auger

Gravel - McBain
MacDermid - LoVerde
Raine - Ebert

Budaj
Emery

My wife and I just got back from the game. It was a pretty one-sided affair, both on the ice and on the scoreboard. There was a few times in the second period that Bakersfield controlled play and created a few quality chances, but overall they kind of reminded me of their parent club.

Now I'm no scout, but these are just a few of my observations: Nurse and Draisaitl were pretty invisible out there. They didn't really do a whole lot. Their goalie was a rebound factory, had very poor rebound control.

As for the Reign: The players that stood out to me the most were Auger, Gravel, and Mersch.

Auger was big, and to me he seemed to use his size pretty good. He was in the corners and behind the net fighting for pucks, and he even took the puck to the front of the net a few times and had a scoring chance or two. Overall I liked what I saw from #39.

Kevin Gravel was the most noticeable D-Man out there. He was pretty good in the offensive zone, did a very good job of getting shots through to the net. He was pretty good defensively too. He looked like he very well could still be the player that many people here thought he could be.

Mersch impressed me the most. He was always around the net, used his size well, and skated well. At one point he broke up a nice pass in front of the Bakersfield goalie as the Condors were trying to leave the zone, and then made a nice pass to Newbury on the opposite side of the net for a goal. He also created problems for the Condors defense and goalie throughout the game right in front of the net.

Nic Dowd looked very solid in all areas, he made some good passes, went to the front of the net. He didn't look spectacular in any one area, but just really solid in every area. This guy could definitely be a 3rd-4th line center in the NHL someday.

Zykov looked as good as someone could for playing in his first pro game. He hustled, was not afraid to use his body, and did not shy away from the corners or from puck battles. I could see some of his skill showing through, made some nice moves, got some shots on net, and was involved in a few scoring chances. He did have one shot that, from where I was sitting, looked like it went in the net. They eventually ruled it no-goal after going to review, but it REALLY looked like it went past the line. It was nice back-hander from the side of the net.

Budaj looked very solid in goal, tracked the puck well, square to the shooters, and did not give up very many rebounds.

The Monarchs/Reign don't seem to have missed a step from last years finals.

Again, that's just my take, and I am far from being a good judge of talent, but that's just what I could tell.
