No, those guys all declined. It means no one wants to play in this tournament other than the young guys.

Just because someone isn't on team doesn't mean they may not have been invited.

Yeah I know that but I don't see why Kinkaid would reject it. He signed an extension right after this season, he would essentially have the starting job, and he could show USA Hockey what he has.

On the topic of the other Devils players, I could see Schneider would want to take a rest, Gomez probably has no reason to go, Merrill suffered an injury a few days before the end of the season, and as for Greene, he probably wanted rest since he's played in like 200+ games in a row.
 
Hope they keep some spots open. we might not get Gaudreau, but Winnipeg is down, Ottawa is about to be swept, Nashville's screwed. There are a lot of guys about to become available who might be looking to wipe that bad taste out of their mouths.

This is by far the most pathetic group of forwards assembled so far...I really am ashamed of many American players and hope USA Hockey keeps long memories come World Cup time...bravo to our defense as they are going to deserve purple hearts.

Same like Finland twice in WC.

Offensive tactics is great in me town season 11-12 with one american great player.

62p in 50 or 55 matches and season before in Asplöven with 81p season before in me town. Best division one player in Sweden whole 21 century ->->-> Eric Przepiorka. No matches in nhl.

Unfortunately (for the US WHC team), I think the Predators and the Jets will win their series. I know the Ducks are up 3-0, but I just still believe in Winnipeg.
 
jesus, being half-spanish-half-german and kinda hockey homeless when it comes to the national teams and traditionally supporting the US I must say, I can really lean back this time .. because this team is going to go nowhere.

Trust me. They all will win their series. Weber is a loss, no doubt about that, but even then the Preds have elite defensemen like Josi or Jones + Ekholm, Ellis, or Volchenkov. I'm not worry if Weber is out just for one or two other games.

Winnipeg is in a tough situation, true. But nothing is impossible.

What north americans fails to understand is that the other teams in this tournament also have b/c/d teams.

My country, Sweden, every year we have "****" teams, take a look at our team this year for exemple: http://www.swehockey.se/ImageVaultFiles/id_93038/cf_78/SWE_roster_RUS-SWE_no1.PDF

and still, we always reach Semifinal on pure heart and tactic. So you dont need dream-teams in this tournament.

And one more thing......Europeans dont think that WC is bigger than Olympics and our own league.....even WJC, World Cup and Stanley Cup is bigger to win. But, we do care about WC also, its a funny little tournament with heart.

I hope so too. IMO, this was a particularly poor decision for Schnieder to make. I don't think he's a lock to make the World Cup squad, and declining an invite (if that's what happened) won't help his chances, and like you I hope the USA brass remembers.

You have to figure Quick and Bishop will be two of our goalies at the World Cup. Competition for that third spot will be tight, if potentially uninspiring. Schneider is in contention, but not a lock. Maybe they decide they'd rather have Ryan Miller and his experience there. Or bring John Gibson along for the experience, knowing he won't play. By declining this invite, Schneider may have inched himself closer to being left off a second straight best-on-best USA team.

Don't know if this is the case, but I'm no fan of players declining the Worlds because they're buttsore about being left off best-on-best teams. Players like that should potentially be blacklisted. If guys like Schneider, JJ, and Ryan turn down the Worlds out of spite for being left off th Sochi roster, then perhaps we shouldn't waste our time with them anymore. I see this happening in Canada too, Logan Couture seemed almost offended when the media asked him if he planned to play for Canada.

The hell it is. Finns would pick gold in Worlds over WJC 9/10 times.
