If Boston doesn't make the playoffs, I'd like to see Svedberg join the team as well (starting as backup, probably).

I hope so too.

Enroth is probably the guy MÃ¥rts wants the most based on past success, but I wouldn't be surprised if Svedberg took the starting job away from him during the tournament.

Martin Johansson is making a case. World class speed and grit with good hands. Could do a good job on a checking-unit.

Lindbäck and Nilsson should be ahead of Enroth.

I'm not a huge fan of Lindbäck but he's in great form. Nilsson will be there as backup minimum. I'd wait out the fist round of the playoffs to see if Läck or Lundqvist becomes available. If not, we still have Nilsson.

Why Lindbäck? He's been awful for years, but because of 15 solid games in Buffalo he is suddenly a better goalie than Enroth?

Enroth had a poor year, but it's difficult to draw any conclusions from any goalies performance in Buffalo this year. Before this year he has been a solid NHL backup for a number of years.

He was great when Sweden won the WC a couple of years ago, and was the backup in the Olympics. Therefor I'm fairly confident Mårts has Enroth above Lindbäck on his wishlish. Lindbäck only has three games of National team experience, two of those games was five years ago.

For many players, a lot of pressure comes with representing your country. Enroth has the experience to handle it better.

The goalies will be set before the tournament starts, I believe. No idea to wait for Läck if Enroth, Lindbäck, Svedberg and Nilsson are available.

Enroth is undisputed no. 1!

I was just curious because you had him listed in the taxi squad rather than in your line-up.

You're right!

Hinges on the availability of Karlsson, Enström, Ekman Larsson and Kronwall. If two of these can join the team I'd pass on Klingberg.

First round losers will be available before the tournament starts. But if they say no to guys who have stopped playing now, they might go on vacation instead and not get anyone at all. So it's a decision they have to make.

Wouldn't surprise me if Klefbom's invite is on tryout basis, even if it feels likely he would crack the final team aswell.

Indeed.

Klingberg goes to Russia on a tryout basis so I guess the same goes for Klefbom, Larsson etc, if they want to play WC. A nice scenario is that our young guys playing for Tre Kronor right now will be joined by new stars in the NHL.

Out of the playoffs:

Landeskog
Eriksson
Söderberg
Lindholm
Lindström
Larsson J
Rask
Josefson
Lander

Ekman-Larsson
Klefbom
Klingberg

Grossmann
Larsson A
Nemeth

Enroth
Lindbäck
Svedberg
Nilsson

European players:

Hjalmarsson - Ericsson - Möller
Thuresson - Lundqvist - Petersson

Kronwall
Rahimi - Tallinder

Nilsson

Potential first round losers:

NY Rangers (Hagelin Lundqvist) ---- Pittsburgh (Hörnqvist)
Montreal (de la Rose) ---- Ottawa (Zibanejad Karlsson Lehner)
Tampa Bay (Hedman Strålman) ---- Detroit (Zetterberg Franzén Nyquist Kronwall Ericsson)
NY Islanders ---- Washington (Bäckström Johansson)

Anaheim (Silfverberg Lindholm) ---- Winnipeg (Enström)
St Louis (Steen Berglund) ---- Minnesota (Brodin)
Nashville (Forsberg Ekholm) ---- Chicago (Hjalmarsson Oduya)
Vancouver (Sedin Sedin Edler Läck) ---- Calgary Backlund

Conclusion: Size is needed why I believe Söderberg, Thuresson, Rahimi, Tallinder and Hjalmarsson is high on Mårts wish list.

What chances that Patrik Hersley will play? He was one of the best KHL defenders this season and played some good games for NT as well. Of course he isn't better than OEL. But I don't see how Klefbom is better than him right now. With a better potential, I think. But better right now? Hardly.

Apples and oranges. Klefbom is more of a shutdown type defenseman.

I'm thinking MÃ¥rts don't want more than 2-3 offensive types. That's why I think they have Klingberg on tryout, too wait and see if Erik Karlsson becomes available. I think MÃ¥rts see OEL as a purely offensive type.

Klingberg on a try-out? That's hilarious. Surely, he won't beat out stars like Burström and Heed.

It's MÃ¥rts and Poppe they do weird stuff like this all the time. I sorta get the feeling that they wanna wait and see how Ottawa does, however I would still want both Klingberg and Karlsson.

My guess is we want Erik Karlsson from round 1. In that case Klingberg might be a third offensive d-man after Ekman Larsson and Erik.

PS. Where do you find room for Klinger below?

Ekman Larsson - Karlsson
Kronwall - Kronwall
Rahimi - Tallinder
Klefbom - Brodin
Grossmann - Larsson

Nik Kronwall isn't going.

Tallinder, he's still alive? Not sure I wanna see him try to play RD.

I don't see why we can't have both Karlsson and Klingberg. That's a great right side.

Klefbom isn't really a shutdown guy. He's been scoring a lot lately, and is more of a two way guy. Since Nelson took over he put up 18 points in 44 games as a 21 year old rookie (34 point pace)

I didn't mean he was a stay at home type. A two way guy can be a shutdown guy. In his prime, I see him as a smooth skating defenseman, who limits his mistakes with the puck and can log a lot of icetime against the oppositions top lines. I think he could end up being a Jay Bouwmeester or a Toni Lydman type defenseman.

Sure a thing I'd like to see. But not sure MÃ¥rts is on the same page. Why isn't Nik going should he be elminated (like Karlsson and Brodin)?

Tallinder is playing NLA finals right now, or if they are done... Douglas Murray is with the Flames.

Hersley is a pure PP weapon though, arguably the best point man on this side of the pond. Klefbom's role on this team will be to be steady, kill penalties in all likelihood.

Klingberg would be nice to get, hopefully he can sign a new deal in the next few weeks and come.
