Well, yes the defense is gonna burn. Zidlicky and Z.Michalek are arguably our best current defensmen so that's a big loss.
For a home championship it seems that we're going to have pretty weak team. A lot of guys from the NHL could be available after the first round of the playoffs though.

Polak is out.

It's not looking good is it?

Indeed. But it may not be that bad.. at least players that normally would not have any chance to make it, could show what they can do. And I'm pretty sure those guys will fight like lions, especially on home ice.

Nestrašil should get a look. 8 points in 18 NHL games. Very big player.

And Jagr looked quite fast when I was watching a Florida game. Would love to see him in the WHC again. But maybe not as an first-line player.

He probably won't get a chance. Yesterday, I read an article about Spacek's (assitent coach) trip to North America and there was written that coaches very probably won't take young players like Nestrasil. Which is a pity, cause I think he could be useful, at least as a 4th line guy. I think there still might be bad blood between him and Ruzicka from the past.

So ruzicka gets a one year extension despite saying that he'd quit if he didn't bring back a medal. Odd.

training camp roster

GK:
Jakub Kovář (Jekatěrinburg, KHL), Matěj Machovský (HC Å koda Plzeň), Jan Lukáš (Sparta Praha/Kladno).

Defence:
Jan Kolář (Vladivostok, KHL), Jakub Nakládal (Turku, Finsko), Vojtěch Mozík, Jakub Jeřábek (oba HC Å koda Plzeň), Lukáš Kovář (HC Vítkovice Steel), Bohumil Jank, Martin Pláněk (oba Mountfield HK), Radim Å imek (Bílí Tygři Liberec).

Forward:
Jiří Novotný (Jaroslavl, KHL), Martin Zaťovič (Toljatti, KHL), Robert Kousal (Podolsk, KHL), Martin Růžička (Čeljabinsk, KHL), Petr Pohl (Eisbären Berlín, DEL), Dominik Simon, Jakub Lev (HC Å koda Plzeň), Vladimír Svačina, Ondřej Roman (oba HC Vítkovice Steel), Tomáš Filippi, Jakub Valský (oba Liberec).

Miroslav BlaťÃ¡k, Vladimír Sobotka (oba Omsk), Jan Kovář (Magnitogorsk), Petr Koukal (Jokerit Helsinky) will be in roster later and may be Filip Novák (Dynamo Moskva).

Jakub Vrana has been awesome in playoffs. He should atleast get a tryout.

Unlikely. If anyone makes it as a youngster it's Pastrnak. If Boston don't make it Ruzicka is very likely to invite him.

Voracek will accept an invite.
Yes, that's not even a question. He is in.

I still hope that Boston will not make the play-offs but unfortunately It seems otherwise... (I don't like them ) but mainly It would be awesome to have both, Pastrnak and Krejci (although Krejci was dealing with some injury but WCH in Prague that's a no-brainer imo)

Come on Ottawa, do it! If Boston sneaks in then I think they will go on a deep run...

Jagr definitely should come... I hope so, then of course Hertl. Well, It could have been very good team in terms of offense but what about defense? :help:

Yeah I was just passing along info that he was asked about it the other day by the media here & his comments indicated he'll be playing.

As for defense I don't think Gudas will be able to go. I'm not even sure if he started skating yet.

I consider Hejda as one of our top D (with Zidlicky and ZMichalek).

Also something for you guys if you are interested (only in Czech)

Hejda is old and slow, but I guess it's better than some of the D we have in Europe. I like Michalek. One thing I don't really understand is why the Czech media insists that Zidlicky is our best defensemen (I know you're not saying this btw, but I was just reminded of it). I think he is our best offensive D-man, but defensively he really isn't that great.

Hejda is not getting any younger or faster, but in the same time he is able to log big minutes against top players and do solid job which is key. ZM is our best D and he is able to create more offense than Hejda.

But we have too many similar types of D (good defensively, but average or poor offensively - guys like Polak or Smid), which is why I listed Zidlicky in our top 3. But I agree with you - he is our best offensive D and that's all.

Czech media sucks, they don't understand hockey at all. All they can see is stats. Who can score or their +/- and that's it. Even guy like Záruba is nothing special.

Yes, agreed. We don't seem to be able to produce many offensive D-men. I'd be interested to see how a guy like Zboril pans out.

Yeah, I went off Zaruba a while back. His constant yelling and shouting when we score (even if it's an unimportant game) began to get on my nerves. He also doesn't seem to have any proper opinion on anything, more like a safe opinion that doesn't cause any trouble...Antos is another one that irritates me. But I really like Pospisil :)

First surprise for me - Zamorsky cut. Yeah, we have many right-handed offensive defensemen.

With the Panthers out of the play-off contention I wouldn't be surprised to see Jagr have one last go with the team. It's in Prague, he'd have nearly a month's rest. Perfect send-off internationally.

We've been thinking this for quite a while, but he retired from the national team last year and hasn't answered Ruzicka's call. I don't think he will come this year, but I would love to be wrong.

So we might be lucky to have Jágr at the World Championships... seems like he's returning to the national team, but has not guaranteed he will play in the tournament.

Would be great to see him, I just hope he doesn't take away top-line minutes from Voracek. I really feel like he has earned his spot on line 1 and would be disappointed if he wasn't there.

NHL Regular Season is complete, now we can sit and wait who'll come. Voracek, Hertl, Jordan, Erat and Hejda are 100% sure. Pastrnak for 95% and Krejci with Jagr 50% sure. The defense is a bit weak IMO..on the other hand the offense looks really good!! I would wait for the end of the series Detroit-Tampa..in both teams we have solid D-mens. Zidlicky, Kindl??, Sustr...:-)

I really hope that Ruza invites Pastrnak.....I'd be very disappointed if he didn't.
