Powerplay units anyone? Crosby and Giroux in same unit would be great...

I don't think you'll see Crosby and Giroux on the same unit, because they're your No. 1 and 2 Centremen, and separating them gives you two deadly PP units.

Here's what I'd like to see:

PP1:
Crosby - Spezza - O'Reilly - Eberle - Ekblad with Spezza controlling the left half-wall, Crosby the right half-wall, O'Reilly net-front, and Eberle in the middle of the slot. A 1-3-1 with Ekblad's cannon at the point.

PP2:
Giroux - Seguin - Hall - Burns - Barrie with Giroux controlling the left half-wall, Hall the right half-wall, Burns net-front, and Seguin in the middle of the slot. A 1-3-1 with Seguin's shot being the focal point.

Crosby, Hall, Eberle, Seguin and Barrie as a PP unit for Canada. Not bad.

I imagine Seguin and Barrie on the points, my only concern is none of Hall/Eberle/Crosby typically play in front of the goalie to screen. Could be a lot of perimeter shots coming out of this group...

I don't think it will matter. That group will be able to move the puck so quickly the D won't have time to re-group.

As long as they don't have Hall on the point they should be fine.

So is Rielly playing? I know they asked him and he accepted but apparently he got hurt recently? Did he play today?

He accepted on the condition he gets his doctors blessing. There has been no news since he said that a few weeks ago. He isn't with the team so I guess his tests said he couldn't go.

Wow. 3rd line should be the 4th line. Hall should be higher up and Ennis lower in the line up. Don't like these lines.

McLellen clearly wants to coach Buffalo instead of Edmonton:sarcasm:

No, but seriously Giroux and Ennis seemed to mesh from the scoreboard vs Austria, I didn't see the game though.

It's a pretty long tournament game-wise, there's going to be some juggling.

Practice lines

Spezza-Crosby-O'Reilly
Seguin-Giroux-Ennis
Couturier-Schenn-Toffoli
Duchene-MacKinnon-Eberle-Hall

according @JulieRobenhymer

Pretty weird 1st line

No way that fourth line can actually be the fourth line. It's head over heels better than the supposed third line. I don't know how I feel about O'Reilly and Spezza playing with Crosby either.

It will be bizarre if Schenn is really centering Couturier. I don't think that has happened in the four years they have been teammates

You should ask Tavares if he thinks Eberle is expendable.

Bah, I knew I would get an oiler homer.

Come on, this is not Junior hockey(I know full well what Eberle did at the world juniors). Eberle is a great player, but if you can replace him by Tavares right now, you do it. One is a Hart Trophy candidate, the other one is a good forward.

Bah, Toronto hater. :sarcasm:

Tavares would be a good addition but I would keep Eberle ahead of Schenn.

Tyler Ennis is ridiculously fast...big ice....

Don't know what you're expecting.

Stat watchers don't have any clue how good Ennis is. Get him with some players that play at a high level and it will be amazing to see what he does. He's one of the most skilled players in the world.

Those practice lines were from a while ago.

MacKinnon-Crosby-Spezza are going to start with Mike Smith in net.
Ennis-Giroux-Seguin is the 2nd line
Hall-Duchene-Eberle 3rd line
4th line is a mix of O'Reilly/Toffoli/Eakin/Couts/Schenn

Muzzin-Burns
Barrie-Ekblad
Hamhuis-Savard/Wiercoch

Smith is starting
Jones on the bench

These lines are pretty good. I'd like to see

Hall - Crosby - Spezza
Mackinnon - Giroux - Seguin
Toffoli - Duchene - Eberle
O'Reilly - Couturier - Ennis
Eakin/Schenn

D is pretty good as is imo.

The oiler hate in here from start to finish is so beautiful, we feed on your hate.

Hall-Duch-MacK is something i want to see lol

I like these lines much better.

Our forward group is awesome, defense looks good too, questionable goaltending though. Could cost us a gold medal.
