They should be jerks, this is a competition and you get the best players, period.

Ennis, I'm talking to you.

Ennis deserves to be there guy had 20 goals and 46 points in 78 games for the sabers , aka the worst team in the NHL this season. Imagine what he could have done with a better cast of players.

I absolutely agree with you. You should take the best talent available. I would politely tell a guy like Schenn as well that his services are no longer needed if Hockey Canada could get a guy like Tavares from the Islanders.

Would you play Wier or Savard? I'm leaning Savard

Curious....Is spezza actually playing wing? Did he play wing in dallas? would blow my mind if he was. Never did it in ottawa to my knowledge

Good, you could fly his family back also and ruin a relationship with a player who you've had success with since Under 18's. This tournament isn't about getting Olympians, it's about giving chances to others to win wearing these colours.

I'll eat a bag of pucks with chocolate sprinkles on it if Sid ever plays another WHC. One and done as an 18 year old. I was there for it live. re: insurance, I believe that even the Pens did not take out insurance on Sid's contract and the contract is only insured via the NHL league wide insurance policy (and even that has exclusions and exemptions) Hockey Canada will never cover the cost to insure Sid's contract for a meaningless WHC.

For up coming idiotic and gimmicky World Cup of nonsense, the league will cover the cost of all player contracts, not the Federations (just like the IOC covered the cost at the OG.

uh ohhhh :naughty:

I'm honestly surprised they're trying Duchene with Hall again...they were abysmal together last time that combination was attempted in 2013.

It will also be interesting to see whether Giroux or Seguin play center on that line. My guess is Giroux, the better puck distributor. However, if it was up to me, I'd have Seguin at RW with Crosby...and maybe Spezza at LW.

Spezza - Crosby - Seguin
Hall - Giroux - MacKinnon
O'Reilly - Duchene - Eberle
Schenn - Couturier - Toffoli
Ennis, Eakin

Practice lines

Spezza-Crosby-O'Reilly
Seguin-Giroux-Ennis
Couturier-Schenn-Toffoli
Duchene-MacKinnon-Eberle-Hall

according @JulieRobenhymer

Pretty weird 1st line

Put Seguin in his RW position and move Hall to the #2 LW spot, I'm guessing he will have to change up the lines in the near future.

These are the lines I personally would go with, but i'm no NHL coach.

Giroux - Crosby - ROR
Hall - Spezza - Seguin
Duchene - MacKinnon - Eberle/Ennis
Schenn - Couturier - Toffoli

Heading into next olympics, it'll be interesting to see how Giroux and Seguin do on a wing (if they play the wing).

With such depth at C, we need to start looking at guys who can play the wing for 2018

Seguin is playing on Giroux's wing right now. He should be alright, he's played at wing both in Boston and when he came back from injury this year.

Duchene sucks on the wing

On NHL ice, yes, his better position is center. On European ice, he can play the wing. And if he wants to continue playing BEST on BEST tournaments, he should get comfy on the wing, b/c I doubt he has a shot of knocking off any of the incumbent centers.

He was better as a winger in the SHL during the lockout. Was completely lost defensively at center.

When Duchene and Hall played together it isn't that Hall and Duchene were bad, it's that Eberle and Duchene were absolutely amazing together and Hall didn't get to touch the puck.

Man that offense. It was already good and with the addition of Crosby, it's now ridiculous. I am jelly.

Hope Slovakia doesn't run into you in the elimination games.
