Picked Seguin to win the scoring title. Canada 6 goals and Seguin 0+0

How did he look ?

God damn it. Canada have scored 16 goals now and Seguin is still without a point.

Guys at work will laugh their ***** off at my prediction

He seriously looks hungover.

It's basically an all star team, they would be favourites annually. The D could use a little work. In be a gm I traded a pick and a prospect for Pronger, they should do that

heres an interesting question how would the team canada roster do if they were an NHL team

As I've learned on the main boards, this team is full of players who missed the playoffs or were eliminated early, and therefore according to the law of transitive victory they would probably miss the playoffs.

I've seen Steve Simmonds say it, but has anyone seen evidence that Tavares wanted to play from a credible source? Of course Canada can't send a forward home when they are already on the team, but this would be the second time that Tavares has been kept home when he wanted to participate. Hockey Canada needs to keep at least two spots open until the first round is over, with one of them being for Tavares.

Is there any news on an eighth defenceman?

I think they were holding a spot for J.T. and then Sid called. ))) but man, do I want J.T. on this team... so loyal and dedicated to the Maple Leaf. At this point I'd prefer him to be making cup runs, but you're right, Hockey Canada has to tell each G.M. every year to hold a roster spot for J.T. until the last possible moment.

They'd be cup favorites. I mean they'd destroy the regular season, easily win the President's trophy, but then again anything can happen in the playoffs.

With all that said, I think they're cheating the salary cap pretty hard :)

You can't say that when he hasn't even been given an opportunity. He was one of our better players last year.

So was Joel Ward. Schenn is a good soldier who could be quite successful on the fourth line for this team, and presumably he will get his chance to play. His selection was made unnecessarily early though.

Though I see what some of you are sayin..at the end of the day Tavares being here vs Schenn in my opinion would really not make a huge difference as Canada's offensive depth is already pretty ridiculous. To me the key question is whether the goaltending holds up..or even bringing in some D depth would be pretty huge..eg imagine a Shea Weber being added to the defense (I know he's injured so just hypothetical)

yeah I mean we won gold in 2014 without Stamkos or Tavares.. two of the worlds best players..

As a Oilers fan I was very happy to see Taylor Hall score a hat trick. He was injured much of the Oilers season so it's nice to get to see him play here. Claude Giroux was on fire. Crosby looked good all game. Germany was clearly outmatched here. I was feeling sorry for them by the end of the game. Hopefully this builds some chemistry for the team. I am interested to see how Canada does in their next game against the Czechs. A solid team that will have the crowd behind them. Canada really has a easy preliminary tournament. Sweden will be the toughest and next game against the Czechs. Sometimes the Swiss can be tough but I am not worried this year. Canada avoids Russia, USA, Finland, and Slovakia, It's almost a cake walk this year in the preliminary. Hopefully the lack of challenging teams will not make Canada too loose out there when the elimination rounds get here.

Bergeron and JT should be on this team....both have been great for Canada over the years...

Agree... and it was discussed the day it was made, by you, me + others.

What I don't quite get is, why Hockey Canada felt it necessary to even register Schenn. You don't have to register a player until you absolutely have to play him. A player could be with the team as a non-registered player. J.T. or some other A-lister becomes available and he replaces him and there's no wasted roster spot. Yes, it sucks for a player like Schenn, but that's the life of a hockey player. Hockey Canada is not in the business of providing Kodak memories for the family scrapbook. I'd be more sympathetic if we were on a three year gold medal run, but we're not.

It's all irrelevant anyway, the only spots left are for a d-man and goalie. So, I hope Brodie is up for a flight to Europe in a few days.

It would be great if they could add Subban or Brodie, even though the defence is solid as it is. Hamhuis has looked great and Burns seems like an olympic-caliber defenseman for Canada. Savard has been good too. We will see against the Czechs and Sweden.
