I can't see RNH on the wing, it just doesn't work. If Giroux, Benn, Seguin, Spezza go they are probably more suited for wing.

Find one post from me saying that.

Russians fans (especially here) are quite civil. The players however... Not so much.

And Russian ice hockey players get VERY dirty when they are losing, not when they are winning...

Yeah I still cant believe the **** against Michalek and Rachunek that Artyukhin got away with a few years ago (multiple times!)..

..while Bykov just called him a molodets, fine clean player and what not. Sore loser

But to be on topic - if I envy you Canadians anything, it will be the forward group that will be lining up here in CZE, unbelievable crop. And Ekblad as a cherry on top

Artyukhin is a dirty player, but he could play hockey back to then as well. Especially when there weren't enough NHLers. And, as far as I remember, Canadians are the biggest fans of such players. I mean they hate them when they play on opposite teams, but they love them on their teams.

Benn isn't going. I don't know about how well Nugent plays on the wing, but I'm skeptical that they will move around superior players like Giroux and Seguin to accommodate him (though I still think he gets his own Oilers line). Spezza is too limited in his mobility to play on the wing.

Todd McLellan officially Team Canada coach.

Assistant coaches - Peter DeBoer (NJD), Bill Peters (CAR), Jay Woodcroft (SJO)

Canada’s roster will be comprised of players not involved in the NHL playoffs. Canada can also add players eliminated during the Stanley Cup playoffs, and can register up to 25 players, including three goaltenders, on its official roster.

So the same as at the olympics, Canada is able to have 14 forwards and 8 d-men. For now it looks like we have 11 forwards already. I expect a player like Couturier/Marchand/Bergeron being added for defensive reasons, then leaving two spots for the likes of Monahan/Tavares/Stamkos, maybe McDavid, but it seems his team isn't going to be eliminated any time soon. Good for him.

With McLellan coaching, I'm surprised that Couture didn't sign-on. Same as Vlasic. Other than that, I'd like to see Rielly and Hamilton make the trip over, as I see them as viable candidates as depth players on future WC / OG teams.

I would think Rielly will go since he wants to and i don't think whatever he has to see the doctors about is anything that would prevent him from going. I am a huge rielly fan and pay attention to his game a lot and he hasn't looked like he was dealing with a injury at all.Hamilton might not go since his injury is more major and has kept him from playing.

This team needs a goaltender, badly. There was absolutely no reason to invite Smith, that's subtraction by addition.

Martin Jones could be a option and does have some international experience won silver in 2010 at the under 20 tornament .he doesn't get to play much with the kings and his stats are not bad .

Not a lot of options are there? I guess Cam Ward. Reimer already said no. Forget Scrivens as he's a waste. Probably going to wait until the first round is over to name another goalie. Could then feasibly get someone from this group:

* Jake Allen
* Brian Elliott
* Braden Holtby
* MAF
* Devan Dubnyk
* Corey Crawford

Maybe fleury might of gone if penguins are elimated early but the fact his wife is expecting there 2nd child soon means he likely won't go.

Vlasic and Hamilton are injured.

I think McLellan is a good coach, and DeBoer is competent as well. They will need to focus on creating a strategy that focuses on protecting the defencemen and goaltenders at all costs.

Friedman said in his column that Toffoli will probably be on his way to the World Championship. Nothing confirmed though.

And some Team Canada news: Via Jim Nill, said via email, that Tyler Toffoli, Jake Muzzin and Martin Jones will be on the team. #Worlds

Mike Smith and Martin Jones. We all knew goaltending was going to be weak. I hope Jones can break out this tournament or we'll need to actually score goals.

that is a great news. Toffoli is already one of the best canadian wingers in the NHL imo and Muzzin is definitely a quality d-man. Jones might surprise people if he gets a chance.

Is Huberdeau not even in the discussion or what? I find it interesting that he was invited and played for Canada after a pretty dreadful 2013-14. Now he puts together his best season yet and he's not even being mentioned?

GOALTENDERS (2)
Martin Jones North Vancouver, B.C. Los Angeles Kings (NHL)
Mike Smith Kingston, Ont. Arizona Coyotes (NHL)
DEFENCE (5)
Tyson Barrie Victoria, B.C. Colorado Avalanche (NHL)
Brent Burns Barrie, Ont. San Jose Sharks (NHL)
Aaron Ekblad Windsor, Ont. Florida Panthers (NHL)
Jake Muzzin Woodstock, Ont. Los Angeles Kings (NHL)
David Savard St. Hyacinthe, Ont. Columbus Blue Jackets (NHL)
FORWARDS (12)
Matt Duchene Haliburton, Ont. Colorado Avalanche (NHL)
Cody Eakin Winnipeg, Man. Dallas Stars (NHL)
Jordan Eberle Regina, Sask. Edmonton Oilers (NHL)
Tyler Ennis Edmonton, Alta. Buffalo Sabres (NHL)
Claude Giroux Hearst, Ont. Philadelphia Flyers (NHL)
Taylor Hall Calgary, Alta. Edmonton Oilers (NHL)
Nathan MacKinnon Cole Harbour, N.S. Colorado Avalanche (NHL)

So with that roster in mind...

Spezza-Giroux-Segiun
O'Reilly-Duchene-MacKinnon
Hall-RNH-Eberle
Ennis-Eakin-Toffoli

Ekblad-Burns
Muzzin-Barrie

Last defender will probably be Morgan Rielly as long as he passes his medical.

Seguin-Giroux-Spezza
O'Reilly-Nuge-Eberle
Ennis-Eakin-Toffoli
