Totally illogical. What about the other guys who went to North America and didn't play with the team all season long. Like Zacha for example? Shouldn't he be cut too?:laugh:

Whether they went to NA or not should be irrelevant. This favouring of European players is idiotic. Prerost has definitely overgrown his stay ;)

 :handclap:

"The fact they went here just for one weekend wasn't useless, they came to fight for national team. Those are players who left to Canada in the summer and because of this they couldn't have prepared with the team all season long. They went to Canada voluntarily, nobody was expeling them. If they had stayed here in Czech republic, they could play in their domestic clubs and have bigger chance to participate at WJC."
By Miroslav Prerost

I think that speaks for itself.

I'm starting to think he invited them to camp already knowing he will cut them right away.

Yes, I have the same opinion. Based on Prerost´s statements, previous rosters etc. I expected only 5 guys from NA (Kostalek, Masin, Zacha, Mandat, Pastrnak). He surprised me with Karabacek (still not sure, he arrived later). It´s awful how he behaved towards Zboril, Chlapik and Jenys!

This statement just makes me laugh. what a joke. this means Karabacek and Zacha should go to then? unbelievable. He doesn't make any sense at all.
The main goal should be trying to succeed and win a medal. Does he not even want that for himself? would that not make him look better as a coach? YES it would, so I don't understand why he would let go MUCH better players and spoil his chances to do that. who cares where they play now. They've ALL represented their country before and helped Czechs win a silver medal, for the first time ever in the U-18's. They deserve to have a legit chance on the team and the fact that they are getting treated this way is disgusting. Prerost should be ashamed of himself and everyone else involved in letting them go.

LOL. No difference at all. Finally hadamzcik is gone though and by the sounds of it, Prerost will be too. Then Czech hockey MIGHT have some hope in the future.

If Karabacek gets cut then I don't think this team will win a medal. who knows but that would just be too much talent disposed of.

and the worst thing is we will be knocked out in the quarterfinal and Prerost will pat himself on the back that team was fighting and blah blah blah, like always

haha yeah exactly. I'm not looking forward to it. Sucks that we have to wait another year to be truly confident in winning a medal.

Prikryl out (maybe injury). One goaltender and one defenseman are going to be cut after afternoon practice. One forward will be cut after exhibition game vs Slovakia (Dec. 23).

Ok thanks for the update. They didn't say Prikryl was injured in the article I read though.

He was injured in the game vs. Karlovy Vary on Dec. 12 (upper body injury). But he was at the camp.
This is from official twitter account of HC Plzen (posted yesterday):
Z nominace @narodnitym pro @HC_CMJ vypadl Miroslav Indrák a po zranění Romana Přikryla zůstává ve výběru pouze Dominik Kubalík.

So I don´t know:dunno:

I guess it's true about Prikryl, check the link Vogel posted, he isn't on the list
and the last def. spot should be between Baranek and Dvorak

Well, it might be disgusting. But can anybody explain me for what reasons Zboril left to USA? As he said he looked at the KOmeta's roster and realized he could be 9th defenseman which probably means he would start in Trebic. This guy does not have so far any start in man category. So is the 2nd league so bad that he could not even start there or should he have guaranteed spot in Kometa? Bearing in mind that he is only 17?? Fair enough he did what is probably best for him. However there is always second side and I bet they are not very happy... I did not hear any rumours that KOmeta harmed his development as it was spreaded in other cases... So I reckon Kometa's benefit from Zboril is ZERO and he is a typical case what czech hockey is fighting against....

I believe that they offer him better conditions in NA juniors. But these clubs just work with the juniors who leave in two years.... and always, always do what is better for them.Quite diff. to czech club which has to put everything together from youth to A team..... All the old players say that it is much easier for youngster to get the spot now than it was 20 years ago. But they still leaving because of icetime or non guaranted spot in roster?? I don't get it......

Just look at the Sparta soccer. Would they be happy if they let their entire 92 generation go for nothing?? Never ever. 90 mil negotiation price for Husbauer..... If somebody think the czechs club are charity organizations bringing up players just for NHL draft, than he must be crazy.......

Man just look how Kometa killing Hajek right now. We all know the clubs aren't charity, but look what they're doing, they're just ruining all the talent with counterproductive moves like 2min. TOI, or 5shifts per game or benched the kid for whole game, no wonder they are leaving their clubs

You can't really compare it to football (soccer), because they get money for any players they develop and sell off. It is the fault of CSLH for not having an agreement with the CHL about getting compensation for the player's development.

Anyway, whether he decides to develop in Canada, or the Czech Republic is irrelevant imo. The point is that we should take the best players available, regardless of where they play. Unless Zboril has some character problem (or doesn't buy into the system), there is no reason for him to be omitted. None whatsoever!

And Zboril is playing in Canada, not the USA.

I believe we live in a free world and if he thinks that the best for him would be to develop in Canada, so be it. I think he worked really hard to get where he is now (like almost every player mentioned in this thread) and it's his choice to choose how his career gonna continue. You can't blame him for not risking to jeopardize his development.

I suppose Kometa is pretty good at developing young players BUT they obviously can't handle very well the transition to mens leagues. Jenys or now Hajek are great examples. I mean, you give the guy 2 minutes ice time? What is that? Either give him a real chance and at very least 8 minutes or do not bring him to the match at all and rather keep him in juniors or send him to second league. This I just can not understand. This must inevitably killing the guy and get him mentally down.

And as was already said, if a guy plays there or there should be completely IRRELEVANT here, if he's good enough. Punishing them by this is not only punishing them and fans, it's also punishing the whole Czech hockey. And if you want players to stay here? Try to make good conditions for them here so they won't have to be affraid about their careers and do not make any stupid prohibitions and punishing.

Vejmelka cut, no defenseman. They are going to Canada with 3 G, 8 D and 14 F.

Ok good news. I was worried that maybe Karabacek would get cut. I think it's safe to say that he will make the final team now. Vozenilek and Gorcik will not outplay him in the pre-tournament games.

Haha, would not say that. It doesn't have to be about outplaying..

It seems like the best option for Czech players now is to play in Sweden. Great development programs and still allows them to play with the U-20 team all year long.

All I wanted to say is that it seems to me that a lot of guys now never have a goal to play or to have success in Czech league. You guys say they ruin them with short ice time etc. But that is a new league rule isn't it? They could easily stay in second league and wait for reall opportunity which will probably come if they are good enough (speaking about Zboril).

Would they guarantee him a spot in AHL now? No. And you want him to have a chance in CZ league? Why exactly? Is he good enough for czech league? I suppose no one knows..I remember watching some juniors playing for Trinec last year and they were terrible.....I know that AHL has higher quality than czech league now. But where is written that he would get a chance in any other senior league, especially when he is 17?

In my opinion it really does matter where he developes.... You take care of him, you develope him not only because of him but also because of your club. But he does not have the main goal to play for your team because his main goal is NHL draft. So most of them leave and than when they are not succesfull they comming back to czech. You do not see that paradox?

It is completely diff. situation in NA. Junior teams need best players possible to be succesfull and then they send them further. Because junior age is the limit of this leagues. So it is basically win win situation for both club and player. These leagues including AHL are just developing leagues. But the czech league is not supposed to be just developing league for NHL. OK, serve for club and than you can go....This is how it should be. What I am missing on these guys is their will to fight for the spot in a team. They just saying I wouldnt have chance, short ice time etc..To be honest in my opinion this is also the reason why these NA developed guys never won something in national team. Reichel, Straka etc. (even Hertl) had this normal attitude - club, national team, maybe NHL. Now it is more likely NHL........the rest.

Now there are clubs which gives a chance to youngsters. But where is Slavia or Karlovy Vary? So are these youngsters good enough or they just want something which is above their current level? Not really surprised that some people are pissed....

I don't want to justify czech hockey, just trying to see it from different point of view.....
