I think the 6 d should be: Fleury,Nurse,Morrissey,Morin,Theodore,Sanheim and obviously Ekblad if possible.

4 games played 19 goals for, 9 goals against, 3-1-0 excellent summer camp for Canada.

Bowey was alright but he made mistakes defensively. He's a good skater and good shooter though, I think it's a battle between him and McKeown for the #7 spot on Team Canada. Especially because they're RHDs.

I'm surprised everyone is leaving Gauthier off their roster. He's pretty much a lock IMO.

One of the slower players, one of the least offensive players. They already have enough guys who can play a defensive role and are faster and better offensively. I personally do not see much need for a specialist with this team.

He was a black hole offensively last year, he seems a little faster this year but still a ways away to call him a lock... Wish he wasnt on the team last year so that HC wouldnt feel like they should take him if they are on the fence between him and other players

Ya, I'm with you on that one, I really hope Gauthier isn't on this team come December. That's a waste of a roster spot if you ask me. I don't think last year's disappointment should stain anybody going forward, but imo Gauthier has proven he is just not an elite NT player in any role, not even as a 13th forward defensive specialist.

Run McDavid/Lazar/Horvat/Bennett down the middle. No other team can compete against that. All capable defensively but I have a problem with Bennett,
he better be disciplined or he should be a scratch. Ritchie too but he's a really good player for us when he's playing well.

Can't agree more.

Couple things. As a Leafs fan, I wont be bias to say if Gauthier deserves to make it, but I will point out some facts:

1. Gauthier got a ton of praise from EVERYONE here for his work against the Americans last year.
2. This is a 19 year old tournament, and history has shown that big guys of this mould come back much stronger as 19 year olds, and perhaps show a greater increase in play than more highly skilled players
3. A player like Gauthier will always be more effective on small ice because size simply matters more.

Point is, if Gauthier plays this year, he will look drastly different than what he was last year (slow, basically a faceoff guy).

IF he earns it (QMJHL + winter camp) im sure he would do better this year

Agreed. Especially if Horvat somehow makes the Canucks roster, Gauthier will be there imo. And, quite a lot can happen between now and the selection time.

Does anybody have some info about Dickinson? Does he play physically?

Dickinson is much like Gauthier in that he does not play up to his size. Neither are strong physical players.

Dickson is a pretty good skater though and has pretty good offensive instincts.

We don't need a guy like Gauthier who is a defensive specialist. Horvat, McDavid, Bennett, Lazar are all responsible defensively who are even better offensively than Gauthier and I think a guy like McCann could potentially find a spot on the December camp and force a spot on the team. His GM said he was relied quite a bit defensively which possibly caused his offensively production to go down but if he jumps out of the gate offensively next season I could see him find a spot on the 4th line.

"We want to be a big team, we want to be a skating team, but you can't ignore the talent these guys have too, and how important that is to win." Ryan Jankowski said this in a NHL.com article.

I agree on the most part, I just hope he doesn't think of that as picking a slow big player over a speedy small player.

Don Cherry upset with Team Canada after Aaron Ekblad hit: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl...-team-canada-after-aaron-ekblad-hit-1.2732232

I agree completely. Like the article says, Cherry’s opinions are often pretty controversial and more often than not stir up some debate. However, his point about letting the bubble guys play is bang on. It not only creates a higher level of competition, but it gives the team a chance to properly fill out the bottom six of their junior team. This has not been done properly for 2-3 years now. The coaches always take all the best players available, which often leaves guys like Mackinnon centering the 3rd line. You need defensively minded, physical players on the 3rd and 4th lines to shutdown other teams’ star players. Guys like Frederik Gauthier who excel in their own end are perfect fits for those roles. If these guys are playing in the exhibition games, the coaches may get another view of how they can shape their team. It also reduces the chances of their star guys getting hurt, like we saw twice in that game against the Czechs. Shame for Ekblad and Fabbri, hopefully those injuries aren’t serious.

I don't agree...I'd rather all players play by the same rules and the "stars" not be given any preferential treatment...they haven't really done anything to warrant such preferential treatment.

I'd prefer to go back to just the annual inter-squad series to conclude summer camp as opposed to bringing in teams and playing a summer tournament...

Even going into this camp with all the game footage they have these days they essentially know the entire roster except for maybe 5-6 players before it even begins. Why risk one of your best players just because some dbag player on the bubble for his team wants to make a statement.

I mean, you don’t need to evaluate Ekblad, or have him playing just to keep him in shape. Give the spot to a kid who still has something to prove at the junior level instead of a guy who’s already a man among boys and isn’t gaining anything from playing against them anymore?

As far as the concussion goes… well, hockey happens. But the fact that Ekblad is even in this game is pretty dumb.

I couldn't disagree more. Two years ago the locks all sat in the press box throughout the entire camp. They brought that prima donna attitude to the tourney and it definitely showed in their dismal play. Our lockout team of "superstars" was embarrassed and everyone on these boars went crazy at how none of them played in camp......
