Has anyone posted the lineup for tonight's game?

just going by who's at the camp and assuming Drouin is in the NHL I like the look of this team.

Dal Colle-McDavid-Reinhart
Duclair-Bennett-Lazar
Domi-Horvat-Virtanen
Perlini-Gauthier-Ritchie
Petan/Dickinson
I'm not entirely sold on Gauthier though

Nurse-Ekblad
Fleury-McKeown
Morin-Bowey
Sanheim/Theodore/Morrissey/Harper

Fucale
Jarry

what you guys think

Best players for canada
mcdavid + Fabbri + Horvat + Ritchie

Worst player for Canada
Petan + domi

My Player of the game would be Fabbri, followed by Ritchie

they were there at camp, did not make the trip to LP to play games. along with Mackinnon and one other I believe. If you ask me, HC is doing just a little too much pampering of these high picks...

Canada has always had the policy that 2 time World Junior players don't have to come to camp for the 3rd summer.... Ellis exercised that option, Tavares exercised that option too (McDavid will too next year).

As for last year, with the still large summer camp, combined with competitive games at LP, HC decided not to bring the 4 returning players (Reinhart, Rielly, Mack and Drouin). Why? Because they were all 100% on the team.

We have alot of spark type of players, Chase, Nastasiuk, Point, Hawryluk, Gregoire, I think maybe one of these guys make the team.

Here's who I liked from the last two games:

Fucale, Desrosiers, Ekblad, Fleury, Heatherington, Morin, Morissey, Nurse, Sanheim, Theodore, McDavid, Baptiste, Bennett, Chase, Dal Colle, Dickinson, Duclair, Fabbri, Gauthier, Gregoire, Hawryluk, Horvat, Klimchuk, Lazar, Paul, Petan, Point, Reinhart, Ritchie.

I didn't like Bigras, Bowey as much as I wanted to. Bowey is okay but I think he can be better defensively than he was this game, Harpur was alright but didn't really stand out. We have better defenceman than Harpur, McKeown was just average. I think we have 9 defenders ahead of him. Perlini has been disappointing I expected him to be more physical and touch the puck more often than he did. A guy like Gauthier is always good but I think a guy like Fabbri/Dickinson/Bennett could be a better 3rd/4th centre. I wanted to see Tyler Bertuzzi but I was expecting another grinder/spark plug.

I think a Ritchie-McDavid-Duclair line has potential or a Duclair-McDavid-Fabbri line and then on line 2 have a Ritchie-Reinhart-MDC line.

Those 6 players looked really solid these last two games, I expected more from Petan too but I think because he was one of the better players last tournament he'll make the team just because of that even if he doesn't improve his game.

Here's my scouting report for tonight's game vs Russia.

McDavid was by far the best player on the ice. Always at the right place, amazing skill set, quick hands, tremendous speed and a knack to locate teammates in the offensive zone. This kid is the real deal (If you didn't know that already).

I also really liked Nick Ritchie. Always buzzing around the net using his body to win battles and check players. He was a great partner for McJesus.

Fabbri is another player that stoud out. He's very good in tight spaces and always seem to be around the puck. He has great vision and even a better shot. He scored a beauty of a goal after intercepting a pass in the offensive zone.

Dal Colle was great also : good hands, fluid skating and very calm with the puck.

Horvat wasn't as bad as people say on these boards. He was very good in the faceoff circle and pretty solid on the PK. He scored a goal when he picked up a loose puck in front of the net. I think he's the perfect center to play a two-way, hard minutes game.

I also liked Petan, which is another player that people seem to be displeased with. His line was very effective in the first period (He was playing with Domi and Baptiste). His play faded off after the first but it was merely due to decreasing ice time.

I think Baptiste and Klimchuk have a legitimate chance of making this team since they are high paced forwards that can play in any situation.

Perlini was disappointing. Domi, Grégoire and Nastasiuk were just ok.

On defense, Shea Theodore had a good game. He moved the puck really well, especially in his own zone. Travis Sanheim was also very good with the puck. It's crazy how this guy improve in such a short period of time.

Heatherington was a pleasant surprise to me. He was good with the puck, not forcing the play and making a great first pass. He defended well against talented players (Buchnevich/Tolchinsky), always keeping them away from the dangerous areas in the defensive zone.

Bowey started the game on his heals but he picked up the pace as the game went on.

Bigras was simply bad tonight. WAY too many turnovers and couldn't handle the puck for more than a second.

Harpur was ok but unspectacular.

As for the goalies, they are voodoo so I won't be going there. I can only say that Desrosiers made a pretty good stop on a breakaway and stopped all 10 shots he faced.

Feel free to comment!

I agree. I like Klimchuk a bit more, he's a smart player who can do everything you ask of him. But like a poster mentioned we've been having scoring problems lately at the World Juniors and I think some more offensive players in the roster would make our team more successful.

I agree. That's why I'm ok with Petan making this team again. The guy is just offense.

Who was calling Horvat bad on these forums during this game?. He was like 90% on faceoffs, was captain and got a goal and assist.

You should look at this thread.

There are a few people suggesting that Horvat should not be back with the team. Some poster said that «he didn't live up to his draft pedigree» but I thought he was the best two-way player out there.

Horvat will and should be back with TC. And he's going to get a letter.

Thanks but I tried those earlier. Maybe its because I'm on my phone or because I live in US?? Is that working for you?
I think it's your phone because Americans have watched through that stream I believe. Try to get on a laptop or computer.

Honestly, I am not a huge fan of Horvat, but even I can't say he was average or bad today.

He was the best two way player on the ice, and it was not remotely close. He made 1 small mistake on the PK, other then that was excellent, and trust me I am no fan, just check out my podcast (with buddies) on the canucks board, episode 2.

He will be the captain of team canada.

I don't know about that. Lazar, Reinhart, Petan are some guys he's going to have to beat out if they stay in junior.

I am not a Horvat fan...but he did play well last night... I think he stays in Vancouver anyway, so my opinion as to whether or not he should be back for another tournament is moot.

totally agree. Too much sheltering and making up the rules to suit the stars.
From what i have seen so far, it is better that Drouin go on his merry way. This team should not need him.

talented, elite level players are always needed, but what is not needed are players with crappy attitudes who buy too much into their own hype and are more concerned with their draft status or pro contract...and HC hasn't done enough over the past few years to weed that type of attitude out of some players; in fact, they have almost encouraged it through, as you wrote, making up the rules to suit the stars.

I like Baptiste because as you say, he can play in all situations, and the only player at camp (or even eligible) with more goals than him last year is Duclair.

Personally Fabbri was my favorite last night though, played really well.

It's irrelevant since he will be in the NHL, but Drouin would clearly benefit this team tremendously. This kind of attitude is what leads to excessive muckers and grinders taking roster spots from the best players.
