fingers are crossed today for Lazar. I think the odds are slightly better today than they were yesterday. I'll be much more comfortable with our medal chances with him on the roster. Lazar and Reinhart are the only 2 players on last year's team that played well. McDavid gets a pass because he was only 16. Some argue Petan was good last year, but I don't agree with that assessment at all. Anyway, of all the returnees who are in their final year of eligibility, Lazar and Reinhart are the 2 I wanted back the most. Come on Ottawa, give me an early Christmas present.

I think if Point has a good game against Russia he's a lock. If Lazar is going, the battle will be between Ritchie/Crouse/Chartier imo.

Nothing is set in stone. Complaining about things not going your favorite prospects way is comical when the roster is not even set, and they are still in tryouts.

Maybe he thinks there are better options?
Maybe he is saving Virtanen for the Tournament?
Maybe he is trying out possibilities for the tournament?
Maybe he knows Virtanen can PP?
Maybe he wants to see Virtanen on the PK?

Why complain when we know nothing at this point?

I agree with you here, there might be even other options we don't know. Certainly not a bad idea to think like this.

It would be tough for Canada to not gold this year with Lazar added to that team... Then again, one bad game by Fucale could do that which is likely to happen with him.

I get absolutely sick thinking of Mac and Drouin playing this year, would just be pure dominance.

no doubt. HC will have a lot to answer for if our goaltending falters this year...considering how they have gifted the 2 spots to "their guys" at selection camp for the past 2 tourneys instead of an open competition at selection camp.

Yep. I truly don't understand Fucale getting the attention he gets because he played on the biggest powerhouse in the CHL for 2 years.

HC does love to go with names more than anything though.

my take is, anything less than an appearance in the GMG is unacceptable! Bronze or worse, then people @HC should be looking for new employment.

plus Fucale's stats this year are very mediocre- 3.20 gaa, .890 save percentage and so-so record (13-9-2)

People did say this about Drouin as well. But I think with, Lazar it's different... at least from what I have seen of the kid, he seems like the type to give it his all in everything and would be motivated and happy (almost unnaturally) to come to the tournament and try and win. The personality of that kid seems like captain material for sure.

Exactly how I feel. I just don't think he'd allow the team to lose, aha.

I am a HABS fan and seriously do not understand the love Fucale gets I just do not see him as all that great honestly and IMHO there were better options within the CHL than him Jarry it the biggest honestly.
