I agree with Volica's line combo, I think that will be a dynamite line. I hope Colborne keeps bringing the nasty next year, and with Gaudreau's playmaking ability, he may really have a breakout season. I think JG is capable of scoring 40-45pts next season.

It's weird to actually feel excited for a lot of youth in the lineup next year. The 'old man' in a JG - Monahan - Colborne line would be a 24 years old; and I think as long as they aren't going against other teams top lines, that they will have incredible success.

This tournament kind of represents the season of the Flames prospects. Gaudreau proving he can play with men, and was impressive in the blow-out (not as much today, at least on the score-sheet) and the tournament can't even start properly for Sven to get knocked out. Just the story of two prospects on different trajectories right now; hope a speedy recovery and for him to be back at 100% come the start of the season.

Also, a note. Anyone else think Peter Mueller should get another look in the NHL?

I wanted us to sign him last year. He's a pretty big body, and protects the puck well. Personally I think it would be better to put him where Colborne was playing:

I'm totally on board with taking a flyer on Mueller. I have been inclined towards him for years now. He's had some bad luck with injuries but there's a high potential reward here. Big, scoring, speedy right shot RW. If it doesn't work out dump him. Should at least get him to try out.

Anyone know more of a report on Mueller's health this year? I'm sure he's not playing overly physical game at this point, but you cannot deny his talent.

He played in the Swiss league last year and was under a point per game. I don't think it's really worth it, to be honest. I can't see him bringing more than David Jones.

I'd be happy with signing Mueller. I think producing at nearly a PPG pace in a lesser league is exactly what he needed, to resurrect that feel for being a consistent producer. That's what he was projected to become anyways, a top 6 forward. I find him to be more skilled than David Jones.

Think he had a pretty clean bill of health this season. Which says a lot for the poor guy. He was actually pretty healthy his last season in the NHL too, just not overly effective. I think he should get another look, honestly. I wanted him a couple seasons back when he hit FA; I thought he fit in really well with the direction we're going here.

He put up some really strong numbers in his first two seasons, and injuries have really hurt his progression as a player. I take a 2 year gamble on this kid. Calgary's shown the ability to revamp careers last year.

He´s been healthy almost the whole year with the exception of missing a few games in the playoffs due to illness. He played the whole year with a special darkened visor, so some effects seem to be lingering on.

Throughout the regular season he produced at a decent pace. Though it has to be said that during the regular season in the swiss league, one does not have to play very physical or go where it hurts to score points.
Once the playoffs started he quickly became a non-factor. It was clearly visible that he was afraid to dig out pucks in the corner and drive to the slot. Therefore he was scratched for the final games.

I wouldn´t mind trying him on a one year, two-way contract with a low salary but I really don´t think he´ll ever become a factor in the NHL again.

He was 3rd in the league in scoring, only 4 points behind the leader (Lombardi funny enough), and he led the league in goals.

Right. The fact that he's behind a guy in a similar situation who also isn't expected to ever be a factor in the NHL is not exactly encouraging to me.
