Problem is that second line is a nightmare defensively.

The other team would hardly have the puck. And as others have pointed out, you're essentially swapping out Cole for Ritchie...hardly a major loss in defensive prowess.

He was taking draws yesterday, not sure if they ended up putting him at center because Shirley is a winger as well. Not enough center depth and all the invites are wingers. Also, the coach is giving Pollock preferential treatment, don't really like it.

I didn't, but Mark confirmed he played center actually yesterday as well even though he listed Shirley at center. I don't think he's in the dog house because he's not playing a ton. I think that maybe he's just not as high on the organization's list as you might like.

They clearly to this point have wanted to see other guys in bigger roles like Pollock and Elie.

I think some of the lines might also be TX line considerations:

Ranford with Ritchie yesterday
Faksa with Stransky yesterday
Faksa with Troock today
Smith-Peters-Karlsson is for sure a possible 4th line in Texas.

EDIT:

Oh yeah and Smith with Troock last night is a potential winger pair.

McGinn will be sitting out due to lower body concerns. And Altshuller will be starting in net.

Yet to be determined whether the change in goalie will be beneficial, but losing McGinn will weaken Carolina's top line.

Hopefully it's a good game from both teams!
