Is it possible that it would be Stastny that we were trading for rather than O'Reilly? I assume we would be looking at a similar price.

How times have changed. No longer need centers or puckmoving defensemen. Good news? The things we do need are much easier to acquire, now or in free agency.

It's almost like some force of magic swept in and changed everything that we know of CBJ hockey, then was gone.

We have too many forwards with Comeau and Skille healthy now. Add the return of Boll by the end of the season and Gaborik in a few weeks and it seems like we have to make a trade so we don't lose somebody for nothing through waivers.

Skille is already in Springfield. Tropp or Comeau will probably be the extra forward for now.

A player I'd like to see would be Bergenheim from the Panthers. Could play anywhere in lineup and would help the PK and is a natural LW. Maybe a deal with FL to bring him and Kulikov in... I'd like that but realize unlikely.

Follow me here...came out of a conversation Friday...Rumors keep Evander Kane in mix to be moved...what would be a legit trade that you would make for him?

I said along lines of Cam, Erixon (or Tyuts even), 1st...

would you want him?

Unfortunately Skille would have to pass through waivers to rejoin the club, trade or no trade, so he doesn't factor in. I doubt Boll will be back in time, but if he is Boll has that hefty contract, so he could pass through, but if he's claimed many of us would be pleased. That leaves 14 forwards at full health, which I do believe we could carry, right? I think the big discussion if we ever get fully healthy is going to be about who sits, not who do we trade.

Yes. I'm wary, but on some level he is exactly what we need. That's a reasonable package.

As a fan, I like Cam more than Kane - he's a pretty easy guy to cheer for. That said, as the CBJ GM, I'd likely do the deal.

Deal unless its Tyuts. If its Tyuts, take off the 1st and make it a 3rd or something.

But I don't see Kane fitting in to the current team. He seems like a diva of sorts.

It seems like one of those things you run by some of the players first. Do you want to be around this guy every day? Maybe they'll think Kane just needs some time to grow up and a new environment.

From what my Atlanta guys have said, it's not so much a diva as a goofball. To me that's more like Voracek, but obviously we're talking about differing personalities so there's no such thing as a real comparable.

They'd have to have an exact reading on Kane before confirming the trade. Even if he's just a goofball more than a diva, would a goofball personality fit with Kekkalainen/Richards? I know Jarmo is a no-nonsense type of guy and obviously don't know where Richards stands on the whole thing.

And I wouldn't move Cam + Tyuts + 1st. That would be too much in my opinion. Moving Tyutin would really throw a wrench into our defensive pairings. I DOUBT Richards splits up Murray and Wisniewski. That means either Nikitin or Prout would have to play with Johnson on our top pairing. Considering where Prout is right now, he seems doubtful. But, Nikitin has almost never been paired with Johnson.

Can Kane play the right side as well as left? Despite having Gaborik and Horton on the right, it'd be a major bonus to have a guy who can play both sides in case of injury or chemistry or what have you.

There are no re-entry waivers anymore. Is Skille subject to them because he was sent to Springy on a re-conditioning stint? I don't remember if he had to clear to go down.

Skille wasn't sent on a conditioning stint. That was Prout, the first time he was sent down for about 16 hours.

skille would be subject to waivers to go back down to Springfield should we recall him...that's why we sent him down when he got healthy due to his being recalled on emergency recall...the number of games limit was up and if he played that night, he'd have had to go thru waivers if we sent him down again...

That is a fair trade, but I would rather not trade Cam. He has already proven he can score goals. That is the last thing we should be giving up if you ask me.

From my own experience in locker rooms and from having studied the issue extensively, having a single personality type is a recipe for disaster no matter what personality that is. I generally think that most everything in sports that ascribed to "psychology" is garbage, so take that for what it's worth.

In Richards' case, when he was captain of the IHL's Orlando Solar Bears there was a promo filmed that involved him and a teammate running through a grocery store shopping in full equipment. It apparently culminated with Richards launching a civilian customer into a display of paper towels, which was his idea and not originally part of the script. (This comes from an article on the NewsBank, so I can't link to it)

There keeps being hints and people discussing a veteran D man.

What about some thing to get a guy like Orpik from Pitt? He'd be a big Defensive D with Cup experience.
