I think mgmt deserves a break. Anytime there is this much access there is going to be plenty to critique. I don't think they made a mistake with Ryan and maybe not with JJ.

I won't criticise them for their choices, its how they handled those two. No phone call for JJ, after serving on team USA 11 times in the past, and Bobby Ryan hears through the press that Burke feels he "can't spell the word intensity".

It was handled very poorly. Burke is such a *********.

I am going to be completely selfish here and say that I am in many ways glad our guys got passed over. If we can stay in the play-off race till the Olympic break, let's use that time to get players healed up, rested, and ready for a play-off push when the season resumes. Plus, the snubs could motivate those guys.

As to the snubs. I thought Dubinsky deserved an invite based on his strong play this season. There never seems to be any rhyme or reason as to how guys are picked. I know in the past guys having a "bad season" have still been picked based on their previous strong play in international competition. In that case why pass over JJ.

I don't know. Good luck to them.

I am with you on that, it won't hurt our guys to rest those nagging injuries.

I want guys from the Jackets on Olympic teams because a) that generally means they're pretty good and b) a little organizational pride. That said, I'm having a hard time getting worked up over the selections based on current play. If reports are true about JJ's lack of formal notification, well, he's earned better treatment from USA Hockey.

Poile said #CBJ coach Todd Richards "really went to bat" for Jack Johnson to make Team USA.

Poile said players were told via text on Dec. 30 that they would learn their Team USA fates via TV to protect "integrity" of announcement.

I don't think we sound like homers, we all acknowledged that JJ wasn't up to his play as he was last year and the year before. I do think he has been improving since Thanksgiving though.

JJ even acknowledged his season has been up and down. I don't think its a matter of him not working as hard or being hurt that he wasn't named captain, I think its just one of those years. He was pretty bad from after the first 5 games or so to Thanksgiving, but from there he's been better save a game here or there.

It's the hocus pocus that was held up as reasons for his diminished play that gets into the homer camp. "He's a good player, but extenuating circumstances are affecting his play".

I will agree, he has been playing better. It sure would be nice if he scored a goal soon though.

What a crock of ****!

A real 2nd class lowlife way of handling things.

USA Hockey should be hanging their heads in shame.

Nah, won't be rooting for Russia. Hope our players do well in their losses.

I follow my team's players more than my country's team, so I agree.

Interesting. Gotta support the home team.

In general, I pull for American teams; but, in some specific instances, I can follow different loyalties. I'm not fond of sports jingoism, so I sometimes overreact to that, as well.

All good, no judgement.

I generally go NA first, US then Canada. I might cheer for Russia depending on who they are playing.
