Huge disappointment for the host nation. Finland has played a couple very strong games now vs permier teams, they are dangerous.

With Ovy, Malkin, Datsyuk, Kovy, etc. how do you score only 1 goal?

Terrible coaching. Need to shake it up, perhaps even swallowing their pride and hiring a North American. Billy is the best Russia has to offer and you still hear about stuff like this.

Malkin had to tell Bilyaletdinov to get Bobrovsky off the ice. Malkin had to tell the coach. I repeat, Malkin had to tell the coach.

Sucks for Russia and I feel bad for the boys... but the important matter at hand, let's bring the boys home and get pushing for the playoffs.

Russia's like that, though. They didn't pull Myshkin in 1980 either. Maybe Bilyaletdinov thought he was honoring that tradition or something.

Bet our Russians come home disappointed and angry. Hopefully they use that fire to get us into the playoffs. Deep into the playoffs.

I'd reckon Euro coaches are just not used to pulling the goalie early. Same thing happened w/ the Czech, where Pavelec skated to the bench himself since he got no instructions from the coach. When you're trailing by 2, you have to get him out with 2 mins to go the latest.

If we want to talk about disappointing performers, how about Anisimov. I know he was in a defensive role and was primarily a PKer for them, but no points? Cmon

To get bob off the ice? What does that mean? Or did he mean pull varlamov in favor of bobrovsky

He means pulling the goalie at the end for the extra attacker.

On the plus side, all Jackets should be reasonably well-rested for the re-start of the NHL season. Doesn't look like there were any injuries, and the guys won't suffer the emotional drain of playing a gold medal game in their home country.

Hopefully, they come back focused on redemption in Columbus.

Well, at least Parise hasn't scored yet.

Seriously, tho, hockey gods? Every other player on my list of "I wish someone else was representing us"? Really? I mean, yeah, go team USA, but WHAT THE HELL.

So, how soon do they get back for practice?

In my mind, this is spot on.

WHile I feel bad for the CBJ players who lost today, I think that this is the best possible news for the CBJ, in that now our players (and coach) can hopefully get home ASAP, rest up, get back on track time, rest, and practice wise, so as to be ready for the stretch run

In short, I think Russia's loss is good news for the CBJ which, in my opinion, is the bottom line

Gonna be a lot of pissed off people when USA wins gold. They look damn good. Just hope they aren't peak early.
