Upside, sure. His shot is dynamic.

But he did loads of stupid **** while in college. He was almost kicked off the team. Suspended for part of his junior season.

Jimmy was better. Bigger leader. More consistent. He has 18 pts in 53 games for the Panthers. I don't think Kevin can be better than him.

Upside? Ok. I can see that.

But whether he reaches that is a whole different story.

Pretty much every player does stupid **** while in college or in Junior. It's college and they're kids. Tony Duclair got suspended by his own teammates for crying out loud. Kyle Palmieri was suspended. Danny Kristo was suspended. The list goes on and on and on.

Jimmy has always been a mediocre player. He's never had the hands or on-ice awareness that Kevin has. If he wasn't 6'6 nobody would have heard of him.

Firstly, size. And to think about it when Zuccarello and Brassard have set the cycle going, Heatley might just entering the offensive zone ready receive a feed alone in the slot.

With Heatley on the team, Zuke and Brass would have a difficult time getting the puck into the offensive zone, let alone cycle it.

Heatley is AWFUL.

realistically, what can we get for nash?

My guess? No way we get 2 roster players, a prospect, and a pick like we traded for him.

My guess is, currently, a 1st rounder and a prospect or a 1st and a middle 6 roster player. Maybe two good prospects or a good prospect and a middle 6.

If he bounces back, we could get more at the deadline or mid-way through the year, but that's a gamble. Right now, we'd be selling very low.

You are crazy if you think we are trading Nash. I am not commenting on his play. I am saying if you honestly believe the Rangers organization is going to trade Rick Nash at this junction you are crazy.

Morris goes on:
“Ryan is unrestricted in two years, and under the model now, given that Colorado has arbed him, short-term looks like what the future is for Ryan going forward, possibly year to year or for the next two years….some people might look a little sideways that a team has done that to a special player, but they certainly have the business right to do that and Ryan is mature, but there’s a history a little bit on the previous contract and Ryan is a stubborn young man.”

So, basically, start your trade rumors everyone. After a night of thinking it over and chatting with a few others, I’m mostly of the belief now that the Avs will try to trade O’Reilly, quite possibly very soon. Why so soon? Well, under a new wrinkle in the CBA, other teams can not actually call and talk to free agents on June 25 – restricted and unrestricted players. They can’t negotiate on actual numbers (wink-wink), but they can call and shoot the breeze all they want and try to see if it would be a “fit” for the two to do business together once July 1st rolls around.

But for real. They two together can manage to set up a play ala Sedins and there you got dragin behind they play, like 3 sec making players forget he even exsist with a clear shot.

realistically? nothing. He has a NTC. until we hear he's gonna waive it, his bum skates aren't going to move. I can't believe after break up we didn't hear something like "sorry, I actually was playing with a broken ankle" his skating was so bad in the playoffs.

His skating was actually pretty fantastic in the playoffs.

It was his finish that was off.

lol Thornton, that'll secure us a Cup, no doubt.

34-year-old center who's never won anything, what could go wrong?

Thornton would actually be very good on the Rangers. If you keep Kreider-Stepan-Nash as the line that goes against the toughest competition, Joe would face easier opposition than he has since his entire tenure in SJ and would probably style on them. Even at his current age Joe goes against top lines and dominates. He's a HoFer. His contract is also only for 3 years at 6.75, so it's not like he'd be a 40 year old albatross.

The problem is 6.75 is still alot and what we'd have to give up to get him, and also the fact that he talks **** about the Rangers and stole Jagr's Hart, so I hate him .

A lot of things. Just like they could if we didn't get him... ;)

I mean, we can't pay market value for him. But if he could be had cheap....

NO THORNTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He called us soft...plus he snaked Jagr for the Hart, which was a joke. Plus he was a Bruin..

SO many reasons to hate him.

This. Some of these suggestions are comical. Dany Heatley in 2014? Come on guys

Have no idea how reliable this is:

"MacLean "SJ is desperate to make some moves, I keep hearing Thornton could end up in NY & Dion will end up in SJ""

EDIT - Is it possible he typo'd considering he only mentions Thornton and Phaneuf, and Phaneuf going to SJ?

Celine will be heading to SJ.

ROR would have to be available for us to land him, or am I missing something? Club elected arbitration is to save the AVs some money, might rub ROR the wrong way but if he gets 6m out of it I doubt he cares.

in bursts. I saw him falling constantly and getting knocked off the puck like he was in tyke league hockey. He'd try to get position on a defender and just fall over or lose the puck because of his wobbly skating. Skating in a straight line, back-checking, yeah he looked fine there but "pretty fantastic" sounds like an overstatement. Carl Hagelin and McD's skating were pretty fantastic.

Hypothetically, Phaneuf heading to a contending Western team, only makes that conference scarier.

this!

We gave up a **** load for Nash, and its not like hes a useless player.. Nash would have been his typical self of having 30g-30a season if he didnt miss time this year.. yes he sucked in the playoffs, but 30g scorers dont grow on trees, he can still skate, and not the one demential player i thought he was.. he can play a 2-way game which i was actually shocked seeing..

ALSO imagine if the dude did score this playoffs, we probably would've won the cup, and to think we made it as far as we did with him scoring 3 goals, he is worth hanging on to an hope he can start to produce in the playoffs for us.. he still a goal scorer and top line winger.. ELite maybe/maybe not but he sure has the size and skill, id hang on too

back to this roster building...

i do like the thought of Staal for ROR.. but its scary to think how our d dynamic would change without him.

Id really target

Kesler though.. if we can get him to change his mind.. i think he would be the perfect fit for us and the kind of center we desperately need!
