Mark Fayne at $3 million is a lot more appealing to me than Stralman or Boyle at $5 million.

He's still probably a 30 point guy... not saying I want him or anything, but we need more production from the blueline.

The 30 points wouldn't be enough to make up for the incompetence that would be happening in front of Lundqvist.

And again it becomes an issue of who would be what pair.

Would Staal and Boyle be a pair? That is an immobile pair. Boyle can't handle the defensive responsibility.

Would it be Moore - Boyle? Disaster waiting to happen.

If they are going to let Stralman walk, his replacement better be mobile.

No Fayne. No Boyle.

I would absolutely buy low on Del Zotto. Don't think he wants a reunion with AV though.

id like to add Anton Volchenkov for the physical element he brings even though a LHS...

Just my own speculation, but I think the Boyle stuff was probably floated to give the Rangers some leverage in Stralman's negotiations. Team has no room for a $5M defender who needs sheltered minutes. I think they'll go cheap on a guy off the scrap heap in the hope that they can mold him into something useful in a new system. McBain, Meszaros, someone like that.

I'd love to add McBain to the roster in some capacity.

Was thinking the same if he comes cheap on a 1 year, I'm sure he would play well against NJ.

yeah, really like the way he takes guys out. I don't know too many players who can do that anymore...

I don't think that D.Boyle comes here. i don't think we're his top choice and i don't think the Rangers want to give him more than 1 year.

Ehrhoff would be a great addition.

The 3 million price tag for X player is more appealing, yes.

The fact it has Fayne's name attached to it doesn't make it appealing at all.

Good luck getting the puck out of the zone and dealing with fast teams with a Staal-Fayne pair.

3 million for Sekera is appealing (2.75), Nick Leddy (2.7)...appealing for Fayne?

The funny thing is Dan Boyle has excellent corsi numbers the last two years. I would prefer Ehrhoff long term but I don't think adding Boyle is necessarily bad. He provides that element of offense we need from the blue line. Even if he is not so great defensively anymore we can handle it as we already have one of the better defensive groups and goalies. And sure 5M/yr is a lot but it would just be for 2 years so it would be off the books quickly. It's not a deal that would harm us long term. We need to be going for it now, our best forward is 39 years old and he could be a decent option to do it.

Want no part of Fayne. What ex-Devil has gone to the Rangers and done better? Sather should know better.

They should go all in on Ehrhoff, resign Stralman and trade Staal. They have limited trade assets to get better on offense. If they sigh Ehrhoff they can (unfortunately) sacrifice Staal.
