How does Lemieux's junior career compare to White's junior career? They seem to have somewhat similar playing styles, and if IRC White was a pretty good goal scorer back in the day.

Personnally, I think that Lemieux is a better skater, better hands, better natural scorer. White has scored a whole lo of ugly goals. So is Lemieux but also some nifty moves I've seen less White doing. Having said that, as good as I think Lemieux is....it doesn't mean it will translate into top 6. I mean, you had players in Juniors that were doing extremely well like Boone Jenner. And while I still love this kid, we pretty much know that he won't be a top 6 in the NHL ever.

What Lemieux needs to be done, while never changing the type of player he naturally is, is to still slow down on the aggression level. He is a much better hockey player than he probably gives himself the credit for.

For those fans that were watching the WJHC's this year, may have taken note that Team Russia had a few very young players on their 3rd & 4th lines, along with behemoth KHL 17yr.old Tryamkin LD. One of note that I found particularly talented but slight was Boltanov C/LW 6'1" - 163 lbs, he impressed while playing with teammate and 1st rounder Kamenev C/LW and Lauta RW. Kamenev was on LW instead of center which caught my eye. Boltanov (Aug.9, 1996) had played previously against Team East in Halifax, where Tretiak's grandson debuted for Russia and impressed also.

These are the type of players that are prospects earning their stripes early on as McDavid was for Team Canada, something that I find worthy of watching for their talents, as they represent those countries future stars. Assuming the scouts do the same, giving them insight for each successive year's prospects too watch.

While raw Boltanov certainly showed glimpses of stickhandling, playmaking and an ability to be where the puck was going to be regularly. At 28th European OV on CSR's he was noticed by others no doubt, maybe not worth this write-up but I've got the time waiting on the USA -Guana World Cup Game. Gotta go the games started. USA scores already, earliest goal this year at :32 secs., Wow!

My favorites:
<Alex Tuch (won't be available at 26th, but one can hope!)
<Conner Bleakley (winner/warrior)
<Ryan Macinnis (underrated? two-way center...2nd line and maybe even 1st line potential)
<Brendan Lemieux (good skater, hard shot, agitator)
<Sonny Milano (very fast/talented/dynamic but an individualist??)
<Thatcher Demko...we don't need a goalie, but...if he's the player with the most value when we pick (the ''good ones'' are already chosen,etc)...you take him since you can trade him for that dman or winger you need in the near future IF his value keeps going higher,etc...we can have many trading chips with either Fucale, Tokarski or Demko......Demko has franchise goalie potential according to some scouts and he's huge).
<Ryan Donato (underrated?)
<Josh Ho-Sang (could be a Robbie Shremp...yikes! or a Kadri? huge risk, high reward?).
<Nikita Scherbak (Russian factor...KHL or NHL???).
<Nikolai Goldobin (Russian factor...moody/enigmatic scorer?...high risk?)

Dmen:
<Marcus Pettersson (my favorite dman after Ekblad...has all the tools...''has everything'', but...weight-gain/strength is the main worry since he's 6'3 and only 161lbs).
<Travis Sanheim (Bouwmeester potential?)
<Dominik ''machine'' Masin (two-way dman)

Ryan Macinnis?

Would some of you Hab fans be happy IF Ryan were selected at 26th??
(I like what I know about him).

(Macinnis...underrated two-way center...2nd line and maybe even 1st line potential...son of Al Macinnis...great bloodlines).

p.s.: Thatcher Demko...would you draft him at 26th?? as a trading chip in near future...franchise goalie potential (super!). Would give us many trading chips for that young solid winger or young solid dman we really need...one of Demko, Fucale, Tokarski would be traded for what we need...once all of their value goes up and up,etc.

Much appreciated.

I'd be alright with drafted Demko, because we'd have a gluttony of goalie prospects. The problem is, like Fucale, this guy shouldn't be a first rounder.

Does Ryan have a wicked slapper that he can get off in the time it takes most people to do a wrist shot ?

Any info on Nick Schmaltz? Leroux has us picking him in our mock draft. Sounds like a good puck handler and is going the USHL route so sounds like a Timmins type of guy.

who else was left on the board?

But to answer your question, he has really good hockey sense and is a REALLY good playmaker. He has a good shot too but he really doesn't use it enough (very similar to DD), his defensive game is average but he's an extremely smart player so i wouldn't be too worried about that. He's one of the more underrated players in this draft, people expect him to be a boom or bust type of player but they couldn't be more wrong about him. His downside is DD and his upside is something like Bryan Little.

Good offensive player with slick hands and high offensive awareness. He seems to have a knack at extending plays and waiting for lanes to open up. Needs to compete harder and bulk up. The potential is there, I'd be very happy with him.

He was in the USHL, he's going to North Dakota in the fall.

Interesting he doesnt have Bleackley in the 1st (he's projected to be a 2nd rounder but alot of people have him in the early 20's), in any case i definitely would have gone with Pastrnak over Schmaltz

Glad it's just a ranking. If the Bruins pick Scherbak just ahead of the Habs, ugh.

We know whoever Boston picks will be a player coveted by the Habs. They are going to screw us in some way.
