Yeah, just a feeling I have. Reading some of the draft publications, most notably the black book, there's a whole lot of hate just for being Russian. Kid's got a hell of a lot of talent and doesn't play like a 'soft euro'. I imagine he goes one or two picks right before us :(

Is your opinion also based on Grant M's comments on him?

My opinion that he's a kid worth drafting at our spot or that I think the habs will take him?

I use an online service that PVR's all junior, ahl and NHL games for me automatically, so I went back and watched this kid play. He's something else. I only defer to other posters' opinions when I can't watch for myself. For example, I'll defer to Whitesnake, WTK or Quebecpride if I haven't seen a particular Q player enough to judge.

As for thinking the habs might take him... yeah that factors into it a bit. Grant was pretty outspoken about McCarron last year, iirc. I can't assume that Grant's opinions always run parallel to Timmins', but I like the odds

Scherbak should or would be gone, at least for me. I think that up front, it will come down to Lemieux, Vrana, Schmaltz, Goldobin, Ho-Sang. On D, you will have guys like McKeown, Glover or Dougherty, Pettersson and maybe Honka.

At that point I'd try to trade down. Honka is great from what I hear but I can see him falling for being tiny. Even pettersson I can see us getting if we trade down 10 or so spots.

with bournival graduating and leblanc getting traded our center depth is pretty weak right now outside the nhl

It's non-existent. DLR is the only "center" and there's a decent chance he plays wing at the NHL level. Nattinen is gone. Dumont isn't going to be anything more than he is now.

I think we're strong enough at the NHL level center wise that our prospect pool doesn't need to draft on need like we did last year drafting size. This year we can go BPA at every pick.

Yeah, I meant that the Habs will take him. Grant had specifically said that the team likes him, hadn't he?

I don't think he specifically said Montreal likes him. He's said that scouts he's talked to liked him. At least, that's what I read. He may have said differently elsewhere.

Fearless prediction: Habs don't get the chance to draft him.

Realistically speaking, it would be nice to trade up about 5 spots for Tuch.

Yeah, it can't be that we drafted talent that happened to have size. :sarcasm:
