I asked on the Ducks board about the 2nd round pick. Not that it means much but the few who responded seem to think they'll keep it. Guess we'll see tomorrow night.

Out of the Finnish prospects Joni Tuulola, defender from HPK could be on Columbus radar... at least now he has gathered some respect around here. Son of a HPK icon with good size and offensive potential.

I'll be posting my own final top-30 for tomorrow night's draft a little later, if anyone is interested. Being on the left coast, I have to eat dinner before rummaging through my lists one more time

I just checked a few mocks/rankings and this will be our pick:

McKeown
Vrana
Honka
McCann
Milano (only guy picked 2x'x)
Tuch or Ehlers (based on central Scouting ranking adjusted for either 4 or 5 Euro's in top 15)
Larkin
Barbashev
Scherbak (Sore Loser's)

Definitely a consensus

and that doesn't count the three I saw the other day that had us taking Kapanen so either I looked at different ones or some have changed since then.

I like Sore Loser's but the again most had Conner Bleakley still available at 16.

The mocks I saw had Honka, Fiala, Fabbri, Milano, McCann, Vrana, McKeown, and Barbashev. Literally no consensus outside the top 5. There might be an argument that the second "tier" is Ritchie, Virtanen, Ehlers, Nylander, and Perlini among the mocks I looked at.

Should be a fun night--I'm going to be at the Wells Fargo Center for round 1, so I'm excited!

It's more like the Millennials' attitude that's now extending to hockey. It's one thing to have input from players, but another to want to be able to tell your coach he's an idiot.

US companies are having a lot of issues with recent college graduates coming into the workforce and wanting to immediately tell off their bosses about how things should be run and what's wrong with the company. If that's just the average Millennial coming out of college, what are hockey players who have been nearly celebrities since they were 13 and used to being worshipped going to do? I wonder how much of that sort of generational thing is impacting how prospects are viewed by older scouts/GMs/coaches and why scouts are less enamored with prospects each year.

Kids today with their videogames and their iPhones, never learning the value of a hard days work...

yeah but in a draft like this it makes a lot more sense. I'm guessing teams wanted to trade last year but there was always someone available they wanted. I love the draft whether there is movement or not

Hoping we pick defense in first round fleury if he drops or I m just starting now to get sold on Honka.

If we go offense I d like to see Virtanen or Perlini if they drop, maybe Fiala or goldobin I think maybe goldobin is a risky reach right there.

Who knows can t wait for tonight :banana::help::banana::banana::D

If they stay at #16, the player I really want them to draft is Kevin Fiala. He's going to be a ridiculously good steal for whoever drafts him, and that will probably be Detroit.

My guess is that the smaller forwards are going to end up going lower than expected and the big/fast forwards like Perlini, Larkin and Tuch go higher than expected. I could see Nylander dropping as well, not because he's that small but GMs willing to go with a bigger player they can see fitting some role on their team but with a higher upside than a forward who's either making the top 6 or going back to Europe and more GMs wanting their team to emulate the Kings with size and grit.

I could also see Nikolaj Ehlers dropping because he's on the smallish side and GMs deciding to go with bigger forwards or defensemen, but I doubt he drops to #16. Moving up to #12 or #13 to get a forward like that would be worth it.

The Jackets have the depth now to be patient and wait for prospects to mature and develop. This is the type of draft where the most talented offensive player likely isn't going to be a top 10 pick, but there's also going to be some busts. The Jackets have the depth to take that risk.

Kekalainen also said he's assuming #CBJ will have pick No. 38 (ANA's option) tomorrow, but hasn't yet heard from the Ducks.

Rob Mixer ‏@RobMixer 1m

Kekalainen said it's possible that #CBJ trades back from pick No. 16 "if we don't like what we're seeing after 15."

Makes sense particularly if we have a guy like Honka targeted who could be grabbed in the 20s

What if the Ducks trade the option to someone else? A convoluted trade just got more so.

Hoping we pick the best player available. Also, don't really want most of the guys you listed :).
