The link in the OP has The Blues picking at 26th, I thought we were picking 21st in the first round?

Don't rule out possibility of #stlblues drafting Ryan MacInnis, Al's son. It has been addressed within club and everyone seems comfortable.

Better not be at 21. Even 33 would make me a bit nervous, but I could live with it if we take a "safer" pick at 21. He's very much boom/bust. He's got the size, the shot, and the intelligence to be a great player, but he has plenty of work to do.

He just better be the best player on the board if we pick him. We don't have the prospect pool, especially at center to just draft a good story.

I know absolutely nothing about him....did he inherit his dad's "you're dumb to block it" slap shot?

Yep. I've seen some reports saying that he has the best or one of the best shots in the draft. At the same time, there are still many concerns with him as well. Still needs to work on his skating. His production last season concerns me and I see him more as a mid-2nd, possibly early-2nd, but I think there will be better options at 33. I'd either risk getting him at 52 or trade up for from 52. I think he should go late 30s-early/mid 40s.

At 33, it won't be a crazy reach, but still a reach IMO that will remind us of McRae, who just happened to be drafted at 33.

Could be like McRae. Although lots of people are now pissed off at the Blues for passing on local boy Paul Stastny, so no matter what the Blues do it's basically a lose-lose situation when it comes to St. Louis products.

Well yeah, we fans like to complain. As long as MacInnis isn't drafted at 21, I won't complain about it. We'll have a big, center prospect, and we can all be happy with that.

Ryan MacInnis would be a great pick at 33. At #21 that seems a bit early for him, so maybe they trade down into the late 20's to pick him. Buffalo is looking for another first rounder so maybe at #32. With so many players so close together after the top 8, teams instead of looking at a group of players might zero in on a specific player. All points to a lot of trading. The % of good NHL players selected at #21 in the first round
hasen't been that great.

There are much better center options that will be available at 21, we need to be drafting the best player, not trading down because he is Big Al's kid

Pass on MacInnis at 21 and 33. If he falls to our natural 2nd round pick, then that would be great. Most rankings I have seen don't have him in the top 40. I wouldn't be furious with him at 33. I just don't think we are in a position to misuse draft picks by reaching for reasons outside of hockey ones, or even trading to get picks for media reasons, not hockey ones..

I've never seen him play, but he's ranked at number 134 just for North American skaters by Central Scouting. Needless to say, I'll be pretty upset if we take him at 33, or 51, or even 81. Maybe as a 5 or 6th rounder he'd be worth a shot, but 33 seems ridiculous to me. Again, never seen him, so is there a reason he's ranked so low, yet you wouldn't mind him as a second rounder?

I agree with this.

With the 21st, he are the guys I would look at:

Scherbak, and Barbashev. I think both will be gone. After that, I would go with Schmaltz

With the 33rd pick, I would go with Pollock or Bleackley.

With our 2nd round pick, I would go with MacInnis or Kamenev.

I like that, I wouldn't be upset with Larkin or Kempe at 21 either
