I LOVE Barbashev's answer...When asked how he felt about not going in the 1st round and having to wait it out, he said it means he needs to work even harder. Beauty.

I absolutely love your draft! By far the best in the league

Thanks. We really needed a great draft from losing our #1 last year (JBo) and also next year (Miller). This draft should have restock the pool.

Nope, Poganski. Never heard of him. He's Univ. of North Dakota bound. RW'er..good size at 6'1, 200 lbs.

Austin Poganski, RW drafted from the same USHL program that produced Jaden Schwartz. Decent size at 6'1 198.31 points in 55 games.

From Draftsite.com on Poganski:

Big wing who plays strong and fast. Has a powerful long stride and can carry defenders when crashing down low. Plays strong on the puck, with good hands and scoring smarts. Strong hard competitor who wins in the battle zones, wall, and behind the net. Always keeps his feet moving and makes chances for himself. Also displays good East-West lateral ability. Much to like in this developing wing. Was named to the U.S. World Junior A roster for the Junior A Challenge.

Next pick at 124. Ben Thomas, Bunting, and Kulda still available.

Edit: Bunting is gone.

That's a good write up, but I wish they would've mentioned some of his weaknesses. He obviously has plenty if he was taken in the late 4th round  Sounds like quite a bit to work with.

Austin Poganski: Wing from Tri-City USHL). going to NoDak next season.

Awesome pick for this round. Plus the Blues have done well with UND recruits. Poganski is a hard-nosed power forward/wing that will fit well in the UND system. Nice shot, good speed, physical. Already has some decent size and strength at 6'1 200.

Ah, there goes Thomas. I think Kulda is the only one left that I'm familiar with. Although, did Lindblom get taken yet?

We've had some garbage drafts made worse by losing the 1st round pick, although JBo is worth it!

This one is going well. Took some good forward talent in the first second rounds. some projects in the later ones, but unlike the past, these 3rd and 4th rd guys have decent NHL potential down the road.

Right. Should have gone #1 overall with this write up :)

Hopefully enough skill and toughness to fill a 3rd or 4th line role someday. In my mind, all these picks will help make up the future stanley cup champion St. Louis Blues :). Love the draft.

Well this has been fun gentlemen. Yard work calls.

Well he didn't score much, so I'm gonna guess not a ton of skill.

I'm just stunned right now, this draft has been amazing.

Agreed. I have been very pleased with nearly every selection. The Letunov pick took me by surprise, but I can't argue with a big(well, tall) skilled center at 52 overall. Love the Fabbri, Barbashev, Walman, and Husso picks. Not upset about any of them. My favorite draft since 2010 for sure.

Descheneau. C/RW. very small at 5'9, 185...but, 44 goals, 54 assists in 70 games this season in WHL. I think he was passed over last year, as he's 19?

Plus a trade for a top 4 d-man to pair with Shatty. I hear Toronto also ate $200,000 of Gunns contract. I does make me wonder how worrisome the hip surgery is for him?

Ok, now Im off for yard work

Took another chance on a little guy with skill, Jaedon Descheneau. Passed on by everyone last year despite scoring above PPG level at 78 points in 69 games, and did even better this year with 98 points in 70 games. Never heard of him, but those numbers are awfully impressive. I don't think you can do much better than PPG scorer in the WHL in the 5th round.
