Thanks for sharing, nice to see some analysis from the 2nd round!

Think the Kings would be interested in Masin or Tryamkin at all?

Great work. I have Husso higher though, as I really love what he did this year. I have him around 40ish.

Yeah I can see that. All my guys 38-51 were in the same tier. I was a little high on goalies last year (had 5 in top 60, including Bartosak) so they might be a little lower this year. Not too mention I am always a little gunshy with regards to re-entries. Bayreuther was my highest this year at 49.

I could see the Kings having interest in Masin. Loves to mix it up and has some decent skating as well. He is a bit of a project though and not fantastic offensive upside. Nice thing is that the new CBA would give the Kings Masin's rights for 4 years without him needing to be signed. I'll be interested to see what happens to him next year, CHL might be best place for him.

Tryamkin will obviously depend on his willingness to cross the Atlantic. He's a smart player that obviously has a huge size advantage. Big shot. Still needs work on skating and positioning, but good upside.

I'd be happy with either of these guys late in the 2nd. As for Kings interest, it's just so hard to predict. If I'm the Kings I'm probably more interested in Masin since the Kings are kind of overloaded with AHL LHD right now and Masin is at least 2 years away from AHL play. Tryamkin could play in AHL next year.

Nikita Tryamkin

Really like this guy, has tremendous size/reach....Kid has above average hockey IQ.

Kapanen low for my tastes. He's a first rounder IMO. Ho-Sang I REALLY agree with you. I do not touch him in the 1st round. Great work again.

I get more and more intrigued with the d-men in this class and less and less intrigued with the forwards, particularly those that will be available at our picks.

Kapanen's beef is size, right? Pops seemed to get along just fine because he was gritty enough, is jr. the same?

There are a few d-men who could be sleepers, and a few intriguing forwards.

The higher end forwards will probably go sooner, which is why I hope the Kings grab a forward first. There are a few sleeper defensemen who could fall in the later rounds.

I would crap my pants out of happiness if the Kings can get one of Sanheim/Bleackley/Kapanen/MacInnis with a 2nd rounder.

Not sure about any prospects that may be available, but have you guys thought that there may be a possibility of Lombardi moving his 1st or 2nd for a more ready prospect? Similar to what Ottawa did when they dealt their 1st for David Rundblad, though they may regret that move considering that pick turned into Vladimir Tarasenko, though they would later flip Rundblad and a 2nd to Phoenix to acquire Kyle Turris.

Lombardi has done this before when he moved his 2nd rounder for a then 23-year old Brad Richardson at the 2008 draft. Just something to consider in case there may not be an attractive prospect available wherever the Kings end up picking.

Not likely.

Lombardi did it in 2008 because the Kings were a bad team and needed some faster progression in the pipeline.

Now with the core they have, he can afford to be more patient.

Now they have a lot of players knocking on the door, and there's a chance he will be forced to play them in the NHL unless he wants to risk they be picked up on waivers.

That is true, but what had me thinking that was the McNabb deal and how the Kings blueline depth in the pipeline may be considered an area of weakness. McNabb is going to be with the team next season, and they have Forbort, Miller, Roach, MacDermid, Bodnarchuk and LoVerde under contract. They have yet to sign Gravel, and Campbell will be a UFA on July 1.

The only remaining prospects in the system that the Kings have are LaDue, Ebert and Leslie.

It's part of the reason why I think they may address that issue of depth on defense at the upcoming draft and also a reason why I was thinking maybe Lombardi may look to pull another McNabb type of trade to get a more seasoned prospect versus a long shot pick.

Another option is to try to move picks in order to add more picks for 2015, which is said to be a better draft class. Whatever happens, I like the idea of picking 30th again.

the Kings can make Bob Miller's day at the draft extra fun by selecting this Defensemen:

36. D Jack Dougherty (US National Development Program, USHL) - University of Wisconsin commit Jack Dougherty is nice hybrid of old and new school hockey. He is a big strong player who loves to mix it up physically, however he is a smart player that understands play really solid positioning. He makes a real strong first pass, which combined with his strong positioning and battling make him a very effective defensive defender. Dougherty also has an offensive side using his solid passing ability and solid shot. His skating is a minor concern.

skating is usually a major concern when it is a concern. Still though, packs an all around game.

Nah I find skating to be very overrated. I mean if you can't skate you can't play but plenty of players make it with slow or ackward looking strides. Smart players can make up for lack of skating finesse but dumb players can't skate their way out of dumbness.

Liking NCAA DMen Gavin Bayreuther (St Lawrence) and Scott Savage (Boston College). Bayreuther is a puck mover who is capable of being a top pp QB. I see him going late 2nd to mid 4th. Savage is actually a SoCal native. Raw player, good potential. 5th - 7th round.

Both older players with Bayreuther already 20. Got to like a hockey player from San Clemente though in Savage.
