If Johansen doesn't get signed and the prognosis on Horton and Jenner is at least another month, I'd be interested in a Skille waiver pickup. I'm not 100% sold on Wennberg/Rychel/Dano to start the season (although I like Rychel's chances the best) and I think they could benefit from spending some time in Springfield. As others have mentioned, Skille knows the system and could be plugged in quickly to start the season.

Again I comment: Jack Skille may not be as good as so many people seem to think he is.

Like Hjalmarsson, D'Amigo, Tropp and Wisniewski?

I'm not sure if we should bring him back as I think we do have better options available, but I'm not sure that the guys we still have here(like the 3 above) are those better options.

He has yet to take contact, but if #CBJ D Ryan Murray (knee) gets a game before the opener, it will be on Saturday vs. #Preds.

Todd Richards said Murray wouldn’t need to play in an exhibition game to be deemed ready for the opener. #CBJ

Just to clarify: Skille was a UFA. The club announced that they intended to re-sign him, but he went to the Islanders for a comparable $ amount that the Jackets offered. The motivation appeared to be that he wanted a better chance to crack the lineup. But then the Islanders kept signing guys (Grabovski and Kulemin in particular), which ruined Skille's chances.

Philadelphia is $4 million+ over the cap as it stands today. They're probably trying to trade guys who might be able to help the CBJ while Horton, Jenner and whatshisname are out.

Perhaps they'd trade RJ Umberger for a mid round pick.

idk how serious you're being with this post but once they place Pronger on the LTIR they'll be ever so slightly below the cap

and idk about Timonen, they might be able to place him on LTIR as well

Coach Richards won't stop talking about Chaput and Chaput is playing in his 6th game tonight (out of a possible 7 in case you've lost count)

definitely think he's making this roster

I remember so many people (jacket fans and others) wrote him off when he lit up the memorial cup as a fluke. I really hope he makes the team and makes a name for himself in the big league.

what I wanna know is how we got Chaput in exchange for Tom Sestito

but yeah the guy has been making big strides each year offensively and still plays a solid defensive game.. only a couple months older than Johansen

What are we talking about here? Taking Umberger back, even though he requested a trade? Is this real life?

Anyway, I thought Philly was fine with the cap, with Pronger and Timonen going on LTIR.

Yeah, I've been a fan of Chaput since that Memorial Cup run he had, and I'm hopeful he can take advantage of this opening.

I remember in 2012 when he ended up ranked #8 on our summer voting for top CBJ prospects, and there were a couple posters here slagging everyone for voting for him so early. Hope he proves all his doubters wrong.

A sure-bet future 4th line center isn't a valuable prospect compared to a boom-bust guy who could be a scorer. You can get 4th line centers for cheap. Chaput is going to have to show another gear and become a 3rd line center to really persuade people they were undervaluing him.

let it go, let it go...he was a mastertrader as well as a late masterdrafter and some would say...nevermind

Considering that a single comment of mine can (and often does) trigger firestorms and flame wars, I think I take that last unspoken title.;)

Totally joking.

But thanks for the info. I was wondering how Philly and Boston were going to start the season so far over the cap. I guess one doesn't place players on LTIR until the day (or day before) the season begins. Makes sense.
