MSL worked well with Hags in the playoffs. He played with rookies in TBay. Vet presence.

Leave Nash and Zucc where they are. Depending on how other teams want to play them, MSL or Zucc will have very favorable match ups.

Yeah I really like 20-21-61, I think they work well together. Zucc and Brass are a given and let MSL be the old goat to the two youngins.

I still think this is the team that starts the season in NY:

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Stempniak-Brassard-MZA
Hagelin-Lindberg-MSL
Bourque-Moore-Lombardi
Glass

I think the added 2-way play of Lindberg and Bourque is what AV will be looking for.

Glass will be playing on the team to start. AV spoke highly of him and obviously wanted him here. He's not gonna be the extra forward. Not when they signed him for that term and money.

Okay, then switch he and Bourque.

Sure. Otherwise I'm with you though I think Miller is going to get a long leash in order to make this team. But anything could happen in training camp in regards to miller/lindberg/fast

I dont like Nash with Kreider. Kreider defers to Nash too much when he should be shooting more. Kreider's shot is way too good and he needs to let it go more. He won't do it with Nash because he constantly looks to pass. I like Kreider with Stepan though, they have good chemistry. And stepan has that stretch pass off the boards down pat. Problem is i don't know where you move Nash too. I'd rather have MSL play with Kreider and Stepan. However we dont have a competent 3rd center in the top 9 to move Nash down. MSL makes us other players better and would be better suited go with younger guys imo. If Nash moved to LW then maybe this:

Kreider-Stepan-MSL
Nash-Brassard-zucc
Hagelin-Miller/Lindberg-Stemp
Glass-Moore-Lombardi

*sigh* I love this place sometimes...

Zoomed in for your viewing pleasure.

If you mean to say, how can I put MSL with Miller and Hagelin? Then yes, you have a case. My defense is that I do not foresee Nash moving to LW or moving away from Stepan. Same goes for Zuccarello not moving from right to left, or being separated from Brassard.

However, if Nash does move to LW, I wouldn't mind:

Nash - Stepan - MSL
Kreider - Brassard - MZA
Hagelin - Miller - Stempniak
Glass - Moore - Lombardi

Better?

This is my starting lineup.I'd Carcillo signed to spare for cheap and play instead of Lombardi vs. some tough East teams.

Meuller just makes more sense as an AHL body helping CT.

Do you really think Bourque has any chance at all to be an NHL 4th liner? Serious question.

Yes I do. PKer. Energy/Role player.

People see what Stephen Gionta has been doing or someone like Brian Gibbons. Speed, tenacity, PKing ability, high hockey IQ.

I dont see a spot for him on this roster though. Forget beating out Glass, I dont think he is ahead of Mueller either who has more NHL experience. Or even his brother for that matter.

I believe $925.000 is The Magic Number

$924.999 for a one year deal it is then. Thanks for the correction. New rules make my head spin.

Original point still applies. Sather won't sign anyone for over the magic number.

Gibbons was one guy I really wanted to sign this offseason. Really stood out to me on Pittsburgh. Signed for under the magic number too

I don't agree with you often but I think this is pretty close. I don't think Glass plays much but I do think he will be on the opening night. Once it is clear that he is a useless train wreck I think Bourque gets some consistent time.

That may be the case but I dont think it matters. I dont think what ryan brings to the table is enough for management to have him leap frog Mueller and Glass. And I like bourque but I just think the cards are stacked against him.

Maybe Chris Bourque could make it if enough guys get injured.

He has played on 3 NHL teams already, I believe. Given 20 games or less for each.

Tanner Glass will be playing for the team. Now you may or may not like it but as of right now he has a spot on our 4th line. Let's see what happens in camp, but imo you don't pay a guy 1.45M for 3 years and then not play him. Would have much prefered Winnik but it is what it is.

More than enough speed, and assume he can handle checking from 4th line of better offensive players.

The ? is whether or not and how many times does he have to get hit by bigger guys before he is flattened?

He may not be a creampuff and have heart, but when drafted it was thought this guy was too stringbean... did he bulk up enough?

That's prob your answer.

kj my point was more or less just that i dont see Ryan Bourque making this team.

I understand your point and agree with it. Mine is to say Chris has a better shot, in my opinion, than Ryan.

Blues signed Peter Mueller. He is another player I would have been happy had the Rangers signed him. He has some talent. Right handed shot. Can play center or wing.

Exactly. Ryan's speed and energy just isn't enough to plant him on this roster. Though Chris, Mueller, and Glass may have different aspects to their game that isn't the same as Ryan's, those aspects still place them ahead of what Ryan could bring. Him being able to play the PK is great and all but we already have enough guys that can do that instead of him. Nash, Zucc, Hagelin, Stempniak, Moore, and Stepan will all play the PK. Glass has experience playing the pk and I'm pretty sure Lombardi has in his career. Again I just don't see a fit for Ryan in this organization unfortunately. Had they not signed his brother, Mueller, and Glass maybe he had a shot. But they did and I;m ok with those additions.
