2014-2015 Manchester Monarchs - 2015 Calder Cup Champions!

Nic Dowd isn't waivers-exempt next season, correct?

I believe Dowd will have to clear waivers next year. His signing age was 24, which means two pro years. Also, he came out of college and played right away at the end of the year, thus constituting year 1. This is year 2. He's also a RFA.

Seems like the overturned goal gave the Comets some momentum. First period fairly even overall, Bartosak has come up huge.

This is the hottest arena I've ever been in. I'm sweating here, folks!!

In other news: Great first period! Barto was huge!!

For the record Staples Center is still the coldest arena I've been to.

Probably the best chance of the period belonged to the Monarchs but the Comets had all the pressure. Pretty happy about the period being scoreless.

My wife wants to know if there's some other hockey game on shortly?

Nah, hadn't heard anything.

Who are the healthy scratches for the Monarchs?

Per LAKingsInsider:

MCH scratches:...G Jeff Lerg, F David Van der Gulik, F Ryan Horvat, F Scott Sabourin, D Kevin Raine

I took out Berube because obviously he's injured. Also, Van der Gulik got banged up a bit yesterday so he's out and Gratton's in.

Monarchs PK teams so solid this series. Paying the price to block shots. Closing shooting lanes. Bartosak looking good, able to see the puck.

Come on, Monarchs. I want a 3-0 win tonight.

ETA: Dull third period.

Anyone know if the Union-Leader publishes on Sunday? If/when the Monarchs win tonight I'd love a copy of the entire Union-Leader celebrating the win.
