2014-2015 Manchester Monarchs - 2015 Calder Cup Champions!

I just asked this on FB but, who is playing the strongest D? Most NHL ready?

Good question
Bodnarchuk for sure in a shut down role him and Loverde have played a lot of minutes against other teams top lines
Forbort and Miller have done well offensively

^ yeah he has very complimentary things to say about weal. great interview; thanks for sharing. :handclap:

it was good to see forbort given a chance last night instead of raine. he did a solid job.

Great interview here. Paul mentions Weal. Says he is having the most fun of his career.

Listen to my beautiful voice. I come on 59 minutes in. I may or may not have gone off about Koharski during it...

Thanks, I enjoyed all three quite a bit. I listened to almost all of the podcast (but all of Andy's part) while working. Needless to say I didn't get much work done. Waited for Andy's recap and analysis of the win last night. :thumbu: Bissonnette is a really good interview. Straightforward, open - glad this guy is on our team. He loves Weal's game, doesn't he? Called our D an NHL defense.

Cali, you mean Ebert?

I think Bodnarchuk has looked so smooth to me, but at 27 yo, I do not see him being in the Kings plans. Forbort has been solid and deserves a chance. Miller is very smooth offensively, but I'm not sure he's big enough to play in the NHL and produce consistently like he has this year. Maybe a McBain type.

I don't even see a spot for any of these guys...

Doughty-Muzzin
Sekera/Voynov-McNabb
Greene-Martinez
extra: McNabb (UFA) or Schultz

I just think he's unfortunately redundant. Love his heart and character, love that he's stuck around this long, but he seems to be an AHL/NHL tweener. Should get a shot somewhere, and wish it could be here for those reasons, but he's not an upgrade on anyone imo. Seems like a Ference type, gritty two way but a lil undersized to play big minutes. We already have Martinez.

Forbort is the most difficult D for other teams to score on even strength. The stats show this. He doesn't get a lot of plus marks, but few minus marks. Also, he's had to play all year long with several different D partners, which says a lot of his versatility. You add his skating, his positioning, and reach, I think it's obvious he's ready. Just don't go thinking he's going to put up a lot of points.

Bods is not your shut down guy. Not physical enough and strong enough to handle larger F in corners.
