Learned today that the old Macy's building in downtown St. Paul will be our new practice facility set to open in 2016, and it's pretty cool looking. I got to see the floor plans, what it will look like, everything. Rink is gonna be on the top floor with huge glass windows and walls looking out into the downtown area, and work out facilities and locker room areas are on the bottom floor with a huge elevator which will take the Wild to the top floor and the rink. There might also be a small Target or Walgreens along with some other stores in the building. Can't reveal how I know as I promised to keep that confidential, but I thought I'd share it with you guys.

How many blocks is it from that location to the X?

makes more sense than building one in Edina, which i believe is where the players wanted it. Half live there...at least half.

Lines:

Bergenheim-Koivu-Vanek
Parise-Granlund-Pominville
Nino-Coyle-Schroeder
Haula-Brodziak-Fontaine

Wild pick up a third liner and put him on the top line along with one of their worst possession players, then drop two of their most effective forwards the last several weeks to the bottom six, along with Nino who's been chipping in goals.

I can't stand Koivu and Vanek together. They just don't work.

What's the point of complaining when you know the lines are always going to change? It's not worth it. If it doesn't work will change during the game. Anyways.

Is Bergenheim-Koivu-Vanek really going to be the "top" line?

I feel like it'd be 1) PGP, 2a) Bergenheim-Koivu-Vanek, 2b) Nino-Coyle-Schroeder

This, I fully agree with you. Koivu line is not a top line if PGP line is together. I'd put Vanek with Nino & Coyle though and Schroeder with Koivu & Fergie

To me, it looks like he is spreading out the scoring making it more difficult for Nashville to match up lines (since they get last change tonight).

I thought it was established that Koivu is more effective when he has a young fast guy on his line, i.e. Zucker, Schroeder?

Isn't there some logic though to put skilled player who has poor possession numbers with two really good possession players?

Koivu is most effective when they are dominating the forecheck game.

Something Vanek is terrible at.

You could make the argument that a poor possession player would neutralize his line mates.

Yeah that could be true. I have no idea how that line will do tbh. Although i like that they broke that Parise-Koivu-Pominville, Yeo would play them way too much.

Bergenheim is one of the better posession players in the league. It makes sense.

If these line combos work, it'll make the wild really tough to defend. I don't like the idea of leaning on one top line with our roster.

Bergenheim is really fast though.

Oooooo.... did not know that. I like that. Exciting stuff. I think the Wild's ID going forward( and the way the NHL is trending) is to be fast and skilled. Plodders like Vanek and Brodz will become obsolete.

Have Bergenheim and Koivu played together internationally?

Maybe Yeo asked him where he'd be most comfortable while he gets a feel for the system.
