I would generally agree, but it depends on their overall depth at the position. If their #2-4 move up then they might be looking for a veteran guy on the 4th. I don't know their organizational depth, but you can't immediately disqualify the thought.

Yeah and if they only need a C for a month no reason to sign Lecavalier. Kelly does make sense though.

This is also the same situation in Carolina. I think there is a market for Chip.

Good point. They can move Lindholm from wing to center, thus opening a need at wing. So, Rob Klinkhammer and Kyle Chipchura for Brett Bellemore.

Well of course I'm jumping the gun here. But hell, Tippett threw Murphy into Top 4 minutes right out of the gate and Murphy was way less experienced/more injury prone than Gormley at that point. So we can't definitively rule out a Gormley - OEL first pairing either.

I believe the reason he immediately got those minutes was b/c we had already got rid of Rundblad and one of Morris or Michalek was injured. It was even stated that when Murphy was called up, it was solely b/c we desperately needed a RH shot.

But you are right that Gormley could wind up paired with OEL. Murphy was paired w Yandle initially b/c he was a stronger veteran than Schlemko. Klesla was also a shell of himself on the left side, so this was the best way to bring Murphy along without making him responsible for Klesla as well

He's been move to forward in the AHL. He's looking like he's going to top out at a part-time goon in the minor league.

Yeah it was pretty evident that Tippett wasn't going to give Rundblad any playing at that point. I thought Murphy's call up was the fork.

As of this writing the Bruins still sit with Reilly Smith and Torey Krug UNSIGNED and with no cap spaced to make a deal happen. There are no shortage of teams out there right now trying to "help" Boston out. The Oilers, Jets, Devils, Islanders, and Predators are just the ones I have heard of. Many teams are asking about Krug...who the Bruins want to keep in an ideal world, but they either have to trade an already signed player and hope a deal gets done or trade Krug.

The Preds signing of Ryan Ellis last night is a very good comparable for Torey Krug and Ryan's deal of 12.5 over 5 years is about where the Bruins would like to be.

"They are going to need to clear at least 5M in cap space per year to get both under contract," a source said.

If you remember this past summer wham I wrote how Loui Eriksson could become available...this is why. I am still told that while he is not being shopped there is little doubt they are listening to offers. The Coyotes LOVE Louie Eriksson and are stocked nicely with future talent..

I thought DM said dollar for dollar deals? If so, not sure how we acquire Erikson? With draft picks/other assets sure. he would help us a lot though.

Loui's cap hit is lower than the actual salary he's owed. That's the last kind of player we can pick up, unless Maloney is completely bluffing.

Agreed. He could be the ideal LW for Vermette/Boedker, but he also makes $4.5M. I don't see how we make that work dollar for dollar, and how that would benefit the Bruins.
