With Jordan Staal breaking his leg, Carolina's center depth just got a lot more tenuous. Perhaps we can dangle Chipchura in front of them?
Same w/ NYR and Stepan.

Don't think a 4th/5th line C makes any impact on addressing an injury to a 2nd line C.

I would generally agree, but it depends on their overall depth at the position. If their #2-4 move up then they might be looking for a veteran guy on the 4th. I don't know their organizational depth, but you can't immediately disqualify the thought.

I have high hopes for Gormley but he's not even Z-lite yet much less OEL-lite.
He's not even Schlem-lite yet.![]()
Well of course I'm jumping the gun here. But hell, Tippett threw Murphy into Top 4 minutes right out of the gate and Murphy was way less experienced/more injury prone than Gormley at that point. So we can't definitively rule out a Gormley - OEL first pairing either.
I believe the reason he immediately got those minutes was b/c we had already got rid of Rundblad and one of Morris or Michalek was injured. It was even stated that when Murphy was called up, it was solely b/c we desperately needed a RH shot.
He does not.How does it look for Mark Louis in camp, does he have a shot as a 6-7 dman?
He does not.

so portland bound with maybe a shot of being called up?
I thought Doan was bad tonight.

Odd too, considering he looked really good in the last game.

Rundblad wasn't traded until March. Murphy's first game was in November against the Bolts.
As of this writing the Bruins still sit with Reilly Smith and Torey Krug UNSIGNED and with no cap spaced to make a deal happen. There are no shortage of teams out there right now trying to "help" Boston out. The Oilers, Jets, Devils, Islanders, and Predators are just the ones I have heard of. Many teams are asking about Krug...who the Bruins want to keep in an ideal world, but they either have to trade an already signed player and hope a deal gets done or trade Krug.
The Preds signing of Ryan Ellis last night is a very good comparable for Torey Krug and Ryan's deal of 12.5 over 5 years is about where the Bruins would like to be.
"They are going to need to clear at least 5M in cap space per year to get both under contract," a source said.
If you remember this past summer wham I wrote how Loui Eriksson could become available...this is why. I am still told that while he is not being shopped there is little doubt they are listening to offers. The Coyotes LOVE Louie Eriksson and are stocked nicely with future talent..
A blurb from Eklund. Take it for what it's worth.
