if only khl, ahl and nhl teams was in....:/
I hope in the very close future at least couple of KHL teams can participate. Then it would be much more meaningful to win it.
I can't wait to see UK hockey. It's like seeing Eskimo Pyramid or something completely new anyway. But in a good way.![]()
To hell with the KHL, this is gonna be a lot of fun. Can't wait to get a healthy rivalry going with a finnish team. I already dislike Jokerit since hte EHT last year when they visited Gothenburg.
Bellemare, Lindström, Möller, Alm have all signed long contracts, they would only leave for the NHL. Skellefteåfans are not stoked at all for this tournament though, (even less so after the draw.) I don't know what the higher-ups plan but on the fan forums people call it a "clown tournament" and call for us using the U20 team. It's a bit early to say. But if I had to pick a team now, it would have to be SAIK, IF their roster is mainly intact. I think I read somewhere that Bellemare was moving to Zürich or something, though? Skellefteå was dominant in SHL and has a team with a lot of chemistry and consistency.
I think this is true for most teams though. People don't care about watching teams they don't have any sort of history with.I remember Sparta Praha played Manchester storm in Prague a years ago. I can't remember a single match with less interest from fans in Prague. The only noice in arena was group of fifty still choral Manchester fans.
The short answer is that the national championships are far to important for most of the fans. Most sports in Europe are organized nationally.I've wondered for a long time, with travels being as easy as they are now, why Europeans federations never tried to put an European league up.
Well, Russian teams in the KHL aren't interested in hte CHL. They see it as a threat since it means other top european leagues are going in another direction and are consolidating to become more competitive in revenue, spectaters and talent. It's understandable, but as a swede, I see the KHL as a threat to my domestic league and want no part in it. It's as simple as that. Nothing against Russia or russians, btw.

Najlepsie bolo:
- HC Kosice do skupiny A
- Nie Kosice nemozu ist do slupiny A koli konflitku s Libercom
- Oprava Kosice v skupine A, Liberec je Ceska Republika, konfikt nieje![]()
Draw was a big fail. It was too amateurish, especially the end of draw.
- HC Kosice to group A
- No, Kosice can not be in group A because of national conflict with Liberec.
- Ohh, Kosice in group A, Liberec is from Czech rep, so no conflict
You see, you see the KHL as a threat. I have no idea where you have the bolded part from. How can this "CL" be a threat to the KHL? No team in it will be anywhere close to an KHL team money-wise in the next 20 years. Maybe there will be some soviet-like campaign in the West prohibiting players to play in the KHL. Otherwise they will continue to play in the KHL if they have the talent. The teams currently in will continue to lose players to NHL and KHL and stay on their current level.
The KHL actually wanted to participate all along. It's the IIHF and Fasel who fear the competition and bowed out.
With the KHL it would be a truly competitive league with a claim to be Europe's Champion's League. Right now it's just a tournament.

In the near future it's a threat to the KHL's plans of expanding further in Europe.
In the long run, it culd keep players like Dick Axelsson from signing with the KHL and staying in Sweden. If it's a success then clubs in europe will see it as a great opportunity for their organization to grow. Hockey is growing in europe and it's looking good right now. I'm positive.
Do you think that clubs playing Champions Hockey League will buy better players (from NHL for example) before starting in new Champions Hockey League?
Not a chance. There's to little money involved. And the status of the league is not known yet.
That article says nothing. It's completely irrelevant and the question is moronic.Mattias Ek from Expressen for webhokej24.sk
It's just in the beginning stages, but the sentiment from clubs all over europe is very enthusiastic.

How should we take CHL seriously if there are so many mistakes by CHL officials?
Jussi and co., lets have a look who started saying "something is not OK with CHL"..... not me, I just posted opinion of well known swedish journalist who was at draw (at least in Minsk).

Nobody will take it seriously this year, as many of the team playing there doesn't deserve to be there, maybe in the future when it comes truly best on best tournament.
