I hope in the very close future at least couple of KHL teams can participate. Then it would be much more meaningful to win it.

To hell with the KHL, this is gonna be a lot of fun. Can't wait to get a healthy rivalry going with a finnish team :D. I already dislike Jokerit since hte EHT last year when they visited Gothenburg.

I can't wait to see UK hockey. It's like seeing Eskimo Pyramid or something completely new anyway. But in a good way. :)

I remember Sparta Praha played Manchester storm in Prague a years ago. I can't remember a single match with less interest from fans in Prague. The only noice in arena was group of fifty still choral Manchester fans.

Really looking forward to it !

I've wondered for a long time, with travels being as easy as they are now, why Europeans federations never tried to put an European league up. Travel distances wouldn't be far from what the nhl teams are used to, and it would be much better for the competition and players development, in all the countries involved.

That's why we need at least Jokerit and the Slovak team in, probably Moscow wouldn't hurt. Not all the ural teams needed tbh.

It's a bit early to say. But if I had to pick a team now, it would have to be SAIK, IF their roster is mainly intact. I think I read somewhere that Bellemare was moving to Zürich or something, though? Skellefteå was dominant in SHL and has a team with a lot of chemistry and consistency.
Bellemare, Lindström, Möller, Alm have all signed long contracts, they would only leave for the NHL. Skellefteåfans are not stoked at all for this tournament though, (even less so after the draw.) I don't know what the higher-ups plan but on the fan forums people call it a "clown tournament" and call for us using the U20 team.

I think this is true for most teams though. People don't care about watching teams they don't have any sort of history with.

The short answer is that the national championships are far to important for most of the fans. Most sports in Europe are organized nationally.

But some people are hoping that CHL will increase the international interest among the fans, so that such a league will be possible in a few years. While others believe KHL will be that league.

Well, Russian teams in the KHL aren't interested in hte CHL. They see it as a threat since it means other top european leagues are going in another direction and are consolidating to become more competitive in revenue, spectaters and talent. It's understandable, but as a swede, I see the KHL as a threat to my domestic league and want no part in it. It's as simple as that. Nothing against Russia or russians, btw.

You see, you see the KHL as a threat. I have no idea where you have the bolded part from. How can this "CL" be a threat to the KHL? No team in it will be anywhere close to an KHL team money-wise in the next 20 years. Maybe there will be some soviet-like campaign in the West prohibiting players to play in the KHL. Otherwise they will continue to play in the KHL if they have the talent. The teams currently in will continue to lose players to NHL and KHL and stay on their current level.

The KHL actually wanted to participate all along. It's the IIHF and Fasel who fear the competition and bowed out.

With the KHL it would be a truly competitive league with a claim to be Europe's Champion's League. Right now it's just a tournament.

Opinions of slovak fans.

riadny fail :D maximalne amaterske zvladnute ten zaver ako to tam kombinovali :D
Najlepsie bolo:
- HC Kosice do skupiny A
- Nie Kosice nemozu ist do slupiny A koli konflitku s Libercom
- Oprava Kosice v skupine A, Liberec je Ceska Republika, konfikt nieje :D
http://sport.sme.sk/diskusie/2290318/1/Kosice-spoznali-superov-v-Lige-majstrov.html#ixzz32M14YDLr

Draw was a big fail. It was too amateurish, especially the end of draw.

- HC Kosice to group A
- No, Kosice can not be in group A because of national conflict with Liberec.
- Ohh, Kosice in group A, Liberec is from Czech rep, so no conflict

:shakehead

In the near future it's a threat to the KHL's plans of expanding further in Europe.
In the long run, it culd keep players like Dick Axelsson from signing with the KHL and stay in Sweden. If it's a success, clubs in europe will see it as a great opportunity for their organization to grow. Hockey is growing in europe and it's looking good right now. I'm positive.

Where did you get the bolded part from? It's already been said that the IIHF only playes a minor administrative role in the CHL with 12% of the shares. It wasn't founded by the IIHF and it isn't controlled by the IIHF. They're not the deciding body.

You sound very naive here. The KHL will not exist if nobody wants to invest in it, that might be the case in a very near future, who knows?

Do you think that clubs playing Champions Hockey League will buy better players (from NHL for example) before starting in new Champions Hockey League?

Not a chance. There's to little money involved. And the status of the league is not known yet.

That article says nothing. It's completely irrelevant and the question is moronic.

Who knows how it will pan out? We don't know what the interest for the league is among european hockey fans. But, the prize money involved is 5 times that of the ET and with interest comes bigger sponsors and bigger prize pools. It's just in the beginning stages, but the sentiment from clubs all over europe is very enthusiastic.

So, why don't you wait with your doom and gloom predicitons untill we have some facts.

SHL, Liiga, DEL, NLA, Cze ect.. Hard-to-follow universe of European hockey, non interesting mess as a whole.

KHL & CHL -> Easy to follow two top competitions and way to go for Europe.

I can't wait to see UK hockey. It's like seeing Eskimo Pyramid or something completely new anyway. But in a good way. :)

Most of the Nottingham players will be Canadian, so not much novelty

In fact I'm convinced it's the involvement in the CHL that has contributed to the sudden decision to allow more imports in the EIHL, it can't be a coincidence

I think this tournament will be a great success. I mean even KHL fans - and their teams are not even participating - seem to focus intensly on Champions Hockey League.

Seems KHL is not interesting enough even for KHL fans. Or is it just that they feel the danger that Europeans couldn't care less about KHL if we got something else done ourselves?

Mattias Ek from Expressen for webhokej24.sk

Maybe this is the dumbest question I've ever read...

It is not about getting NHL players but about getting an interesting international competition.

Not even KHL teams can get any decent NHL player without overypaing them heavily. Nobody wants to play in Russia if not paid at least double the money than in the NHL or in Euro leagues.

How should we take CHL seriously if there are so many mistakes by CHL officials?

Nobody will take it seriously this year, as many of the team playing there doesn't deserve to be there, maybe in the future when it comes truly best on best tournament.

Jussi and co., lets have a look who started saying "something is not OK with CHL"..... not me, I just posted opinion of well known swedish journalist who was at draw (at least in Minsk).

What mistakes? The draws were done manually! That's why there were some confusion. But it also ensures that it's done fairly.
I don't see any articles at all in swedish media criticising the CHL for incompetence or ineptitude. It was the rules that not more than one team from each country could be represented in each group that made a mess of things. It was a minor inconvienience and quite francly added som entertainment and a few laughs. Why do I have to explain this to you? Did you even watch it? Jebus.. this guy. He just doesn't quit.

It is fair. That some fans will be bitter about not having their team represented is one thing but saying that the founding clubs who spent their time, money and effort creating the competition shouldn't have an automatic buy in the first few years is just nonsense.

I'm just looking forward to me all summer will annoy unbearable Czech media and they bother with the promotion of this piece of ****. disgust
