Wouldn't be surprised to see Compher centering the checking line that goes up against the Domi-Reinhart-Duclair line. That's being leaned on, IMO.

I thought he'd be a winger on that line?

That's even more ridiculous than the anti-NA theory. You're going to cut one of the better players there because he was late to a video meeting?
Still not as ridiculous as the Latvian coach not inviting our only 2 decent U-20 CHL players and instead relying on a bunch of 17 and 18-year-olds to do the job. :help:

Because he wasn't named captain he is apparently dead to them? Thats seems a tad melodramatic don't you think ?

As for who they will lean on. In tournaments like this it's usually the hot hand or what ever player fits the situation best. Defensively I'm sure Compher will get his ice time. Offensively it all depends on how he is playing.

Iirc leading up to the tournament the talk was Compher was going to center the checking line.

I guess it depends on how Matthews is going. Right now, he looks like the 4th line center behind Eichel, Larkin and Matthews. I don't think it's melodramatic at all to say he's not going to be leaned on much. How often does the 4th line center get heavy lifting. It's just the reality that i see.

@Jakub_Homola: Karabacek: "Originally, I should have stayed with the team. However it's my mistake and I'm so angry at myself for that."

THN: Who’s No. 1, Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel? WJC will help solve the debate

6812-13_1-640x427.jpg

Chairs and a podium. That was Connor McDavid’s first victory of the season in his battle for the hearts and minds of the hockey world with Jack Eichel. Both 2015 draft phenoms had the opportunity to play at First Niagara Center, the home of the Buffalo Sabres, in the fall, and both were incredibly impressive.

Eichel, who went first, posted two points and earned MVP honors at the All-American Prospects Game, an annual showdown featuring the top draft-eligible prospects from the United States. A month later, McDavid’s Erie Otters hosted the Niagara IceDogs in a special Ontario League game that ended with him ravaging the competition for four points in an 8-4 stomping. When it was time to meet the press, McDavid got a podium, and the scribes were seated. Eichel had to stand for his post-game scrum.

It's tough to tell with the exhibition games. He's played center in both. You'd imagine the coaches would want to slot him where he's going to play. Where he plays tonight will be most telling.

Big promotion for Bracco. He's been really good in the tuneups and his stock continues to skyrocket. Inevitably, though, I think Team USA will return to the tried and true Milano-Eichel-Tuch line, even though they've tried Motte and Bracco on that line with Eichel-Tuch.

The only things I hear really out of Canada are that they hate their goaltending, hate Gauthier and the rest is just setting the bar so low for what McDavid should be able to do in his return that if he doesn't fall down he's the best player since man first put foot to ice.

Goaltending is fine if it's Comrie. Fucale is a problem. As for Gauthier. I hate the fact that they chose him over Dal Colle. I mean, sure roles and things but if you wanted a role player wouldn't he be the 13th forward..? Dal Colle would have given them this:

Fabbri-McJesus-Lazar
Domi-Reinhart-Duclair
Dal Colle-Petan-Virtanen
Crouse-Gauthier-Paul
Ritchie
