On the other hand, a big advantage for Sbisa is that he fits well with Streit. And who could replace him? Furrer, Ramholt or Grossmann aren't exactly locks themselves.
Some observations based on the Arosa challenge:
Not much to say on individual players, although I think Gardner has made a good case for himself and the Ambühl-Bieber pair had some strong efforts on the PK.
Regarding the line up, Simpson kept the i-Hollenstein, Ambühl-Suri and Tachsler-Walker combo from the last WC. It's also interesting to note that he put a physical player with i and Hollenstein, which makes me think that whoever it was who said that Niederreiter would end up on that line may be right. And given the strong defensive play we could expect from a Bieber-Ambühl-Suri line, I wonder if Duga may have been right when he suggested a few pages back that Trachsler may end up out of the team.
If we remember that Romy and Wick played on the same line at the Deutschland cup, maybe this is the line up Simpson has in mind:
Brunner - Romy - Wick
Niederreiter - i - Hollenstein
Moser - Plüss - Gardner
Bieber - Ambühl - Suri
No Baertschi ? Ok ,I know that his stats doesn't look so good, but he is playing on very bad team.
The only question mark behind Furrer is his health, otherwise he'll be there, I'm sure. Most of you just select 18 players, Simpson can select 22 (+3 goalkeepers). I'm quite sure he'll take 8 D and 14 F to Sotchi.
I just don't see any NHL-player not getting the call (beside Weber).

Did this on page three during the off-season, but didn't really do much research and just picked the top NHL-related talent (drafted or signed an NHL contract at some point) before filling out the extra spots left.
Going through the WC and Euro league numbers along with the NHL stats, here's what I'd go with right now:
L| C| R
22 Nino Niederreiter| 88 Kevin Romy |24 Reto Suri
14 Roman Wick| 12 Luca i| 70 Denis Hollenstein
82 Simon Moser| 28 Martin Pluss 'A'| 96 Damien Brunner
17 Hnat Dominechelli 'A'| 25 Thibault Monnet| 86 Julien Sprunger
Ex: Two of: 27 Sven Bartschi, 61 Patrik Bartschi, 11 Benjamin Pluss, 10 Andres Ambuhl
Not totally confident with the Bartschi's as 13/14. Ambuhl seems to be on everyone else's list, but he's just never impressed me. Hollenstein also doesn't impress me much, but he seems to be on the top two lines of everyone's list, too, so I'm grudgingly putting him on the 2nd line. The other considerations outside of those four would seem to be Ryan Gardner (a little aged) and Julian Walker (inexperienced internationally). Dominechelli is there as a veteran presence up front, which is part of why Gardner seems like a poor selection. I suppose if I had a gun to my head, I'd probably take Ambuhl and B Pluss over the Bartschis, but I'm uncertain at the moment.
Niederreiter has salvaged his career this year and looks ready to be a go-to-guy on the first line. It's not like they have many better options, anyway.
D| D
7 Martin Streit 'C'| 90 Roman Josi
16 Raphael Diaz| 47 Luca Sbisa
57 Goran Bezina| 3 Julien Vauclair
Ex: 6 Tim Ramholt, 77 Yannick Weber
Defense remains mostly the same as I had during the off-season. Replace Sbisa with Felician DuBois if he's not healthy. I have a bit of an obsession with Weber and Ramholt being on this team, but I could see one of them dropped for either Furrer or Blindenbacher, too.
G
1 Jonas Hiller
26 Martin Gerber
20 Reto Berra
Pretty much the only one without question for me. Stephan was the only other option IMO, and he's been underwhelming the past two seasons and had a poor showing in the 2012 WC. Berra's not been much better, granted (and probably notably worse), but he's got a bit more youth and therefore fits better as a 3rd string behind the two veterans. If Gerber's out, then Stephan becomes the backup and Berra remains in the pressbox.
I think taking Bärtschi as an extra forward would be a very good idea. He hasn't had a very good season in the NHL, but I think just being around the team at the Olympics and getting a few minutes in the games would be a very good experience for him. And if there is an injury or someone else begins the tournament badly, he could easily step in to the 3rd line.
We need size and grit in the fourth line. I'm still not sold on Sprunger but he did show up this year with the swiss team (2g 2g 2a).
Pardon my ignorance, who were your team facing and what were the scores?
It was at the Deutschland cup. 1G in a 3-2 SO win against Germany and 1G 2A in a 5-4 loss against the USA.
How did you fare against the third opponent? And actually, how does your exhibition game schedule looks before the OG's?
