Do you anticipate team Canada to only score 8 goals in 7 games? Because if you so then yes, Luongo may have a problem winning.
They only scored 2 in regulation in the Final. It's not out of the question that in games against real teams the goalie will be needed to shut the door, which Luongo couldn't do at the end of regulation.

The problem in Turin was partially selection, but also tactics.
On the big ice, you MUST be able to counter attack and get the puck up ice before the Euro Trap can set up.
Pat Quinn hockey does not work there. Guys like Pronger, Regehr, Redden and Foote would use the extra ice to take their time moving the puck up ice...and the teams over there trapped Canada into submission.
If Canada is to have any chance to win a gold medal, they MUST advance the pace of the game, quick outs from the zone to forwards moving forward with speed.
If opponents have time to set up a trap in the neutral-zone, it will be Turin all over again.
I think Babcock knows this, based on his team selection, but we will see.

I agree, from the speed perspective I love this Team Canada.

I have stated this before: Taking into account the number of shots, while failing to look at the quality of said shots means absolutely nothing.

Luongo was a big factor why we won that game, that's what every professional journalist will tell you, and every fan who saw that game as well.

I know what are you doing here with Luongo. But that doesn't change anything. If you're looking for a number one goaltender now, and you really want the best option for us, you should want the goaltender who's at the best form right now. Is it Price ? Is it Luongo ? I don't know. But whether you like Luongo or not, you should accept that he might be the better choice right now. You should show a little respect if you want people do the same for you and Price.

As the incumbent starting, gold medal winning goaltender who's still playing very good hockey, Luongo will get the start in game #1 vs. Norway. Price will start game #2 vs. Austria. Unless either goaltender looks either terrible or outstanding during their one start (and realistically, given the competition, a good assessment may be difficult), I expect Luongo to get the start vs. Finland, and they'll go from there depending on the results. Its too bad about Price; I was really encourage by his start to the season, but his performance the last 3 weeks or so has been unacceptable.

Team isn't scoring goals so there's little Price can do in that situation (can't expect him to get continual shutouts even if he was playing well). Same situation Luongo faced in the 2011 Finals (two shutouts wasn't enough).

He was a big factor in why it went to overtime.

People don't get respect for blowing leads (look no further than MAF). I accepted along time ago that he was probably going to make the start, but that doesn't mean he should, or that he's better than Price right now, or that Price is terrible.

Not that anyone will take my opinion seriously but the defensive effort in front of Price the past 6 weeks has been some of the worst I have ever seen. Do not look in to Price's numbers lately. He is a technical monster who is on a mission this year. He is exactly the type of guy you want behind an elite Team Canada defence. That being said, Luongo more than deserves his shot at reclaiming the number 1 position. But DO NOT worry about Price's game.

Ok Guys...it most likely that Stamkos will NOT be available for the Olympics...

There was some sort of setback today at his practice...

For his sake he should take all the time needed to get back to 100%...he will be needed in 2 years world cup...

Who can we replace him with? who is the hottest Canadian player at this moment?

Neal? Seguin? MSL? Staal? Giroux...

I think they will go with another big body in Staal or Neal...

Who out of the above is the best skater shooter combo?

Crap!!!! :( Neal for me but someone reminded me what a hot head he is. Still like MSL - he's hard not to like.

My preference...

Stamkos
Neal
MSL
Staal
Seguin
Giroux

Looks like the hottest right now is Giroux with 26 points in his last 22 games

Josh Harding is Hurt, hope Price is not hurt....

he took himself of the ice because his leg hurt...this is not good at all...

He wont be at 100%

We need to start thinking of a replacement...NEAL is hot right now even Giroux is hot - the others have slowed down

I wouldn't worry about Stamkos just yet. Apparently he still did a full off ice workout and decided to give his leg a rest for today. The fact that he's going on the trip is a good sign.

Does anyone remember if Carter spent any time on Crosby's line in 2005? I remember him and Bergeron being paired together, but was Perry always on that line?

If he did, it was very minimal. Carter played with Getzlaf and Ladd. Bergeron centered the 1st line with Crosby and Perry. IIRC, Perry went in as the 13th forward, but Jeremy Colliton got injured during the exhibition games and either saw minimal ice time or didn't dress during the actual tournament.

Luckily for you guys Bergeron is scorching hot right now. He is a defensive monster but he is scoring too. 24 points in 26 games.

Marchand is even hotter, but his piss poor first half rightfully kept him well out of the discussion.

Duchene has been very average lately and will probably start as the 14th F I imagine.

The things i've heard from Stamkos himself is the movements that put torque pressure on the muscles/tendons is what he's having problems with.

I'd give it another 9-10 days to really know if he can go or not.

MSL or Giroux are the 2 guys i'd consider. Personally i'd bring Giroux.
