McLellan has a ton of faults as a coach, but the power play isn't one of them. It's stagnant right now because some players don't want to move. Whether it's sickness, rust, or something else entirely, it'll likely be better after the short break we have this week.

The main issue I have against McLellan is his insistence on dressing or icing the "veteran" player over the players who deserve the spot, i.e. Handzus over any other forward, Murray over Demers, and Clowe getting PP time and extended shifts when he's playing poorly. We saw this last year with White and the year before with Wallin. It's just idiotic and counterproductive. I'd much rather scratch a player and have him evaluate his game from the press box. Send him a message that his poor play is intolerable and that everyone on the team is accountable regardless of his seniority. Instead TMac waits for a struggling player to "play out of the slump" while another skater, who is probably dying to play, gets to sit and watch for no controllable reason.

Almost every coach in the league goes the veteran route. The only complaint I have is Demers sitting out.

Vlasic-Burns
Stuart-Boyle
Demers-Murray/Irwin/Braun.

Thats what I'd roll with.

Most coaches go the veteran route when there isn't a significant difference in the skill-level of the said veteran and the other player. McLellan goes the veteran route regardless of skill level.

Well teamwide. If it's only one or two players then it's worse since they get the book thrown at them like Clowe :help:

Its becoming clear that Clowe is now going to be on a short leash with the officials. Much like Lucic, Burrows etc. I saw Lucic give Markov a slash behind the play and got called for it. I thought to myself when Dany Heatley was here..he would pretty much slash all game long and never get called.

Vanek passed Marleau and is the new leader in goals. Marleau's such a bum. He should be close to 20 goals by now yet is stuck on 9.

Honestly, how sick would a canucks vs sharks series be in the playoffs again.

With burns returning, and kesler and booth returning, a few deadline moves for both, it could be a legendary series.

You guys would wipe the floor with us. No contest. It'd be a sweep with scores of 10-0, 15-1, 5-0, 35-2 and the skies would part and the Sedins rise into hockey heaven to live with Gretzky and Yzerman.

For such a compressed schedule, I'm surprised there is only one game on tonight. I know there's a storm coming in the NE, and it's hockey day in Canada, but shouldn't there be at least 4 games a night in a league that only has 99 days (At the start of the season anyway) to work with? So you don't have NE games or any of the Canada teams. I would watch a Kings game, or an Avs game, or even schedule the Sharks on a Friday (Unless there's a concert tonight, I don't know). It just seems odd that there is only one game tonight, but at least it looks like a great game between two legends in Salanne and Jagr. I will be recording and watching later.

Uh, considering I want to Sharks to actually advance in the playoffs, I prefer the Red Wings. We beat them with Lidstrom so we'd have an even better chance without. The Hawks have intangibles and too many high end weapons and the Sharks always have at least one own goal a game against the Canucks plus fluky **** like the stanchion goal. We're cursed against them.

Sharks vs Canucks or Hawks would be a great series.

Isn't that what we said in the years when those actually were series'. Look how they turned out. With the way the Sharks are built, I am afraid of pretty much every team in the western conference. It's gotten to be an insanely strong and fun conference to watch, but like everyone has said, the Sharks window is close to closing.

It definitely won't be easy, but it should be fun to watch. When healthy, the Sharks this year actually have a team that could handle the chip and chase.

I didn't say anything about us winning. Just that those would be great to watch as a hockey fan. Obviously, I would ask for much worse teams if I was looking for an easy series to win...

I'm not. This year I think the Sharks are better equipped to handle those stifling teams. They've looked ragged for a few games and everyone worries about the bottom 6 but I think they will get better as the year continues.
