I only have interest in Lecavalier if he takes a massive pay cut. Where would he slot into our lineup at this stage of his career?

And I want no part of Briere. We're small enough already

another small forward injury prone as of late. yea lets sign him :sarcasm::shakehead:help: the only small forward id take is St.Louis but he isnt leaving the Lightning...

So pissed when the Yotes picked Samuelsson one spot ahead. He is certainly more of what the team needs instead of Skjei.

Would be awesome if someone educated in the AHL department can chime in here. What's the deal with some of our guys down there like McI and Miller?

Even if Samuelsson was available I feel the NYR Brass would have picked Skjei anyways.

They have an obvious plan at the draft and that plan is to use our 1st round picks to draft defensive defensemen with some offensive potential.

But I agree

Samuelsson>Skjei

The AHL department can be found here

There are many reports on McI on there.
McI needs 1 more season in the AHL, needs to work on his skating and quicker decision making.

That's wht i was looking to find. I was hopeful he'd be somewhat ready this coming season. However they know best, let him round it out. Thanks!

I think sometimes we let it slip that we do have some guys that are in the A that can be useful too.

Miller, Fast, Hrivik, McI, Thomas, Yogan, Mash and Nick Palmieri (I wish this guy can get it together with the size and the shot he has, looks like an AHL er for now).

I highly doubt the Coyotes make a move for a defenseman. The reason Yandle is available is because of their depth.

Philly is the best fit as far as needs, unfortunately they will never make the deal.

I think Edmonton makes the most sense. They will want to get Eakins the core group of players soon so as to work with them and get them used to playing together. I think they deal that pick.

Mason Raymond would be a good UFA signing if he doesn't ask for a ton. Good for ~40 points, has great speed, can play 2nd or 3rd line on the LW. Would give the Rangers Hagelin, Kreider and Raymond on the left side which is a ton of speed. One of them would match up against the 3rd pairing on the other team which are most likely not as mobile.

Still want McLeod and Nystrom to flank Boyle on the 4th line.

Let Lindberg and Miller battle for the 3c/4c role. Having Boyle (if he isn't dealt) allows the new coach to ease them into the lineup a bit which would be ideal and is necessary.

Work the 2nd tier of UFA's. the top tier is awful and will be severely overpaid.

Nystrom wants to re-sign with Dallas and what happens to Dorsett in the bolded?

I think Dorsett could be a serviceable third liner. In a perfect world, he's a fourth liner.

Love speculating before we have a coach, but it's really all relative until we're set here ;)

Under Lindy, Dorsett could be a third liner. Under AV, he'll be on the fourth line.

If the Rangers were to go out and get someone like Raymond, a 3rd line of Raymond - Miller/Lindberg - Dorsett would go ok IMO. Would prefer Dorsett on the 4th, but I don't think he'd be out of place on the 3rd

If Raymond and Dorsett are on the 3rd line, it means Clowe is out. I thought Boyler was in the pro Clowe camp.

Have to have contingency plans in case Clowe wants too many years or too much money.

Dorsett can play on the 3rd line if need be.

Also, Hagelin can play RW on the 3rd line if neither Nystrom or McLeod feel comfortable on the RW.

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Raymond-Brassard-Callahan
Nystrom-Lindberg-Hagelin
McLeod-Boyle-Dorsett
MZA

Or switch Hagelin to left and bring up Dorsett to the 3rd line.

Dorsett is more than suitable to a 3rd line. The guy will score 15 goals a season with ~25-30 points. That's easily a 3rd liner.

Also, of note, Callahan and Hagelin will most likely start the year on IR due to their surgeries. I don't really want to start the season with 4 rookies at forward on a team that had problems scoring last year.

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Raymond-Brassard-MZA
Nystrom-Lindberg-Dorsett
McLeod-Boyle-________

I've noticed that everyone is putting Kreider on the 1st line.

What makes everyone so sure he is ready yet? The 4 games towards the end where he looked decent?

There should be a plan in case he isn't ready yet.

If he isn't ready by next year, this team is severely lacking LW depth.

It's not that he is a 1st line player. It's where I think the players fit. I put Hagelin on the 3rd not because he is worse, but because he is much better defensively and would make logical sense to play with a rookie center.

If he isn't ready and needs to play in the AHL then someone will take his spot. Zuccarello? Hrivik? Thomas?

If he doesn't make the team then that means someone else beat him out for a spot.

Needs:

-Top 6 Forward
-RH defender although with Torts gone maybe they would not be opposed to have guys on their offhand side
-A stable 3rd line (contingent on top 6 forward can be resolved that way)
-Dumping useless extra 4th line players

Surplus:

-4th line players
-2nd tier youth forward prospects (Think guys like MSC, Thomas, Hrivik, Yogan, Jean, Nicholls although just signed)

Questions:

-Do we trade for that top 6 guy?
-Do we allow the youth to play out on the 3rd line or get vets to fill spots?
-Do we move DZ in a trade because PMD are valuable? Is Moore ready to play his type of minutes? Would it be for that top 6 forward or futures? Can we GET a package for him ala the Goligoski trade (top 6 forward and a D in return)?
-Can we bank on Staal being ready and not having any setbacks in recovery?
-Is Ryane Clowe going to come back? How much do we pay for him and where is the cutoff point?

I just want guys that will defend eachother. We have a very talented d but we lack grit back there. We need a guy who can play but who can be nasty as well. I'd be more than satisfied to see a trade for a vet like that for del zotto and a first.

We need a guy that can fight, skate and penalty kill. Powe is not that guy, he isn't tough enough for a one trick pony with no offense. We have to be better than guys like that on our fourth line. I'd much rather see miller on the ice than powe. Btw I'm not trying to fault him it's the makeup of the team that I question when a guy so offensively inept is playing on a supposed contender.

We aren't a tough team and we aren't a highly skilled offensive team either. Our gm needs to decide what type of hockey the rangers will play so we can draft accordingly and develop an identity. We are in limbo right now. This current group was missing something, it was hard to get behind them. I think our team lacks heart and soul guys. When you have to bring in mercs to provide guts it speaks to a flawed drafting approach.

That's very generous imo. Guy's never had more than 20 points. Wouldn't be best to slot him in on the 3rd line going into the season. Would say that a Nystrom-Boyle-Dorsett 4th line would be fantastic.

Powe for McLeod + late pick
Pyatt + late pick for McBain
Asham + pick for Blum. I think he is still exempt from waivers, he can be sent down to the AHL and work on his physicality with Beuk.
Sign Nystrom, Assuming Nystrom is a FA

To start the season
Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Clowe - Brass - Zuke
Fast - Lindberg - Miller/Yogan
Nystrom - Boyle - Dorsett
McLeod

Eventually
Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Clowe - Brass - Callahan
Hagelin - Lindberg - Zuke/Miller
Nystrom - Boyle - Dorsett
McLeod

McD - Girardi
Staal - Stralman
DZ/Moore - McBain
Eminger

If Clowe doesn't pan out
Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Hagelin - Brass - Callahan
Yogan - Lindberg - Zuke
Nystrom - Boyle - Dorsett
McLeod

Still have Fast, Miller, Hrivik, MSC in Hartford for a call up in the top 9.
Mash, Haley call ups for the 4th line
in case of an injury.
Having Yogan up playing 3rd line next season may be ambitious, i think he will be ready. He can skate well, good hands and good vision.
