Is Portzline alive or just sleeping? Guy really needs to do something this morning!!

Like what? Tapdance? sing a song?

His job is to report what happens. He already spends too many column inches trying to inject his opinion into things.

If there isn't anything to report, there's nothing he should be writing.

Columbus, oh
Either Jarmo and Co. are holding cards well, or nothing is immiment in CBJLand. 50/50.

One call can really turn this thing on its ear, and that may not come until 2:50.

Agreed, I really feel that JD and JK are probably keeping things close to there chest. I just wish Portzline would do something...anything! Obviously we are looking at Pominville, but what else, give the Jacket fans something to grab onto. He's never been very good at this.

I prefer a tapdance....maybe a little song and dance would be nice right now.

Something I just heard that I thought was interesting.

Perhaps Howson a year ago was more shrewd than we thought. People were chastising him for not making the move to trade Nash on trade deadline day because he ultimately settled for what was offered (or less than what was offered) anyways.

BUT there may have been a twist. It is possible the Rangers wanted to include their 2012 1st round pick as opposed to the 2013 1st round pick. Don't forget the Rangers were on their way to winning the President's trophy as the regular season leaders which meant their pick would be pretty high. Howson also negotiated LA's pick to be conditional on which one we wanted (last year's or this year's).

Perhaps Howson believed that this 2013 draft was deeper which is why he didn't do the trade a year ago.

Teaser: wait until I post Part 7B on the Nash trade to the Howson legacy thread on the main board. It'll be either tonight or tomorrow.

1:30 p.m. (HM) -- We have a trade! The always-active Pittsburgh Penguins are back at it, this time acquiring Jussi Jokinen from the Carolina Hurricanes, a week after he cleared waivers. The Hurricanes get a conditional pick and reportedly take some money back as well

Oops, sorry if this was the wrong thread to post this. Mods feel free to move if needed.

@SunGarrioch: Being told NJD, WPG and maybe CBJ have an interest in Buffalo's Drew Stafford. #TRADETRACKER

Wouldn't be a bad alternative if:

1. The asking price for Pominville is too high
2. We're on Pominville's no-fly list.
It'd be a bad alternative because Stafford is like a less productive Dubinsky. We don't need him. If we can't get Pominville or Burmistrov, we should just sit on our hands until draft day.

Get prepared for lots of activity...I have a meeting in 10 minutes and as my luck would have it that's when it will all go down. :(

Ben Bishop to Tampa.

Wonder if now that he is off the market, some team may want to toss a late round pick to Columbus to have Mason as a rental backup.

The only other goalies under contract are McElhinney and Allen York. York needs the playing time, and I'd imagine Springfield would be livid if McElhinney were called up. (Not that they can prevent it from happening, but it would hurt the relationship)
