Ben Bishop to Tampa.

Wonder if now that he is off the market, some team may want to toss a late round pick to Columbus to have Mason as a rental backup.

Apparently the Flyers thought the price was too high on Bishop. Maybe they will test the waters.

Biggest problem with Mason is he has to be qualified at his current salary this summer if a team wants to re-sign him.

Teams know they'll be able to get him for free later.

The only other goalies under contract are McElhinney and Allen York. York needs the playing time, and I'd imagine Springfield would be livid if McElhinney were called up. (Not that they can prevent it from happening, but it would hurt the relationship)

Then we would go to another city and they would have to find a new NHL team to move there. Not much they can do. Not saying you try to be mean to them, but you worry about your NHL team first and your AHL team second.

...and Yzerman gave up Cory Conacher and a pick for him.

Really.

Nobody here is allowed to make fun of Howson's trades ever again. :shakehead

Looks like Minnesota for Pommy

@TSNBobMcKenzie: MIN just pulled Johan Larsson and Matt Hackett off the ice amid spec - still unconfirmed - they could be traded. Lots of Pominville spec.

Gaborik!???

Waiting to hear what we sent, but this concerns me greatly. I'm sure our players will love it though.

Holy crap, The Finn has balls the size of coconuts. Brassard, Moore, and DORSETT to NYR for Gaborik

How is that bad trade? What does Howson have to do with this trade as/and these players haven't even played a game for respective teams?

They are stacked at prospects, already have too many small kids. Size/toughness has been problem for them. Johnson made Cory expandable. They thought Cory doesn't bring anything unique that can't be replaced. They had to trade some kids as they have too many of them coming up.

Trade from strength to weakness.

I really wanted to keep Moore and really really liked Dorsett. And I've been ambivalent about Gaborik's performance of late.

He damn well better be worth it, is all I can say.

Never expected this. Hoped with Marian rumors he was on the market. We gave up our goal scorer and ended up with another goal scorer, even if he is two years older.

If we sign him to an extension, this was a good deal.

Steal for #CBJ RT @Real_ESPNLeBrun: Rest of the Mason deal: Leighton and a third-round pick to Philly

And just like that, my "meeh" mood has gone to triumph. :D

(oh, and McKenzie is saying there was also a 6th sent to the Rangers for Gabby)
